PUBLISHED BY THE SENIORS --CLASS OF ST. FRANCIS HIGH SCHOOL HUMPHREY, NEBRASKA

With the passage of years, you may look back upon this school year as the time when the darkness of ignorance suddenly became bright with the gleam of knowledge. To preserve a word of these moments and the countless other experiences of you and your classmates, this annual strives to capture the mind of the sch olarship, the leadership, the activities, and the character of St. Francis High School.

Foreword 2
ion
To the YOUTH of today, we, the Sen iors of 1960, dedicate our Yearbook, THE SERAPH. Since youth will LEAD TOMORROW, they must FOLLOW TODAY. They must spiritualize their lives and by doing so spiritualize others. Spiritualizing Youth means sanctifying Youth. This is accomplished by loving God and submitting our will to His Divine Will in all things.
SUPERINTENDENT’S
MESSAGE
To the Class of 1960; A man is not in every sense a human being until he is educated. He has to unfold like the plant, bud forth, flower, bear fruit and vanish from society, Education has been I called the ["apprenticeship of life." It is an unfolding of tremendous latent potentials with which God has endowed His (rational creatures. They may be just a faint reflection of the infinite but to our limited thinking they appear un limited. Such factors as courage, stark determination, rightly directed ambitions, true pride coupled with sincere humility,--all are tremendous factors in our education, in that unfolding, in that development of man. He comes into the world a seedling, he must be carefully nurtured, he dare not be crushed, he must be molded so carefully as not I s elf or what he is to be to tamper unduly with the given I"self" . . . Had it not been for Adam's lapse and its resultant weaknesses inherent in all his descendants, education would be a simple and exact as mathematics. Then intellects would not have to search even for a definition of it.
