Friends of Santa Identity Theft I have a report on how much we had helped feed families this last year with our charities to Friends of Santa. 3843 individuals were help last year the year before that 3517. Thank You for all you giving.

Children are given social security numbers as soon as they enter into this wonderful world of ours. When it comes to identity theft, thieves do not care if you are an adult or a child. Your child’s SS# can be used to apply for government benefits, open bank and credit card accounts, apply for a loan or utility service, or rent a place to live.

V O LUME 5 3 I SSUE 1

When you check your credit report, you should check for a credit report to see if your child’s information is being misused. On this site, you can learn how to avoid identity theft and learn what to do if your identity is stolen. http:// www.consumer.ftc.gov/ features/feature-0014identity-thef You have several warning signs that can tip you off to the fact that someone is misusing your child’s personal information and committing fraud. Some of these warnings might be strange mail for your child such as; credit card applications, bills in your child’s name, tax notices, etc.. If you think your child’s information is at risk, check whether your child has a credit report. Contact each of the 3 nationwide credit reporting companies.
