A. Introduction
We are committed to provide high quality but affordable education despite the uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. We vow to advance knowledge, cultivate potentials and create success among learners through outcomes-based education anchored on local and global standards. To do this, we will transform ourselves and our school and use the resources that we have to create joy in the ASIANOS’ pursuit of excellence. The pandemic is making a lot of us anxious, but one thing is for sure, we will rise above this challenge because here at Active Community Contributors Institute we do a lot of SMALL things that make a BIG difference. This Distance Learning Primer will give you a much clearer picture of what will happen this S.Y. 2020-2021. ACCI Distance Learning Primer

B. Modalities of Learning
To ensure the safety and well-being of our students, we will adopt HYBRID (both online & modular) learning for S.Y. 2020-2021. There will be NO FACE-TO-FACE instruction this year. Active Community Contributors Institute will blend SYNCHRONOUS and ASYNCHRONOUS learning using schedules and curricula that provide academic rigor balanced with wellbeing. We will continue to use innovative teaching strategies that will spark joy in our students’ pursuit of excellence. We will also continue to support the academic and social-emotional growth of our learners through our Umbrella Project (Student Wellness Program). Synchronous learning activities • Students and teachers are online together at the same time Asynchronous learning activities • Lessons recorded by the teacher, and accessed by students at their own time • Learning activities are provided to be completed by students ACCI Distance Learning Primer

D. Online Platforms
The main online platform used by Active Community Contributors Institute is G Suite for Education (particularly Google Classroom). G Suite for Education is a set of safe and easy-to-use tools which will allow the students to access, view, create, communicate and collaborate. Upon enrollment, each student will be issued a G Suite account with the extension acci.edu.ph which will be used to access G Suite and other online applications/websites (e.g., Canva, Flipgrid, Edpuzzle, etc.) The school is also a Scholastic partner which gives the students access to Scholastic Learning Zone containing thousands of books and other learning materials which are meant to develop the love for reading. Finally, the school will use the School Management System (SMS) Schoolmate which is designed to migrate administrative operations online. Through Schoolmate, the parents will have access to school announcements, accounts, and grades at the comfort of their own homes. ACCI Distance Learning Primer

Connect to the internet Access Google Classroom & G Suite Join a video call & online discussion Create documents and presentations Take photos and videos Record video files Record screens Edit photos & videos (for Grades 4 to 12 students)
Students who will be using a mobile phone or tablet are also advised to use keyboard to make typing easier. Finally, students need to have internet connectivity with at least 6 GB bandwidth. ACCI Distance Learning Primer

F. Distance Learning Activities
The students will be learning through the use of: • Phoenix textbooks • online resources (documents, videos, and websites) curated by the teacher in the Google classroom • teacher presentations and lectures • Video conferencing (through Google Meet) Although remote learning is different from face-to-face learning, the teachers will still use the 5Es framework to facilitate learning. This means that every lesson will have an activity that engages, explores, explains, elaborates and evaluates. This includes icebreakers, games, collaborative learning tasks, performance tasks and tests.

G. ASSESSMENTS
Assessment is an integral part of instruction, as it determines whether or not the goals of education (or in this case the learning targets) are being met. Hence, students will still be evaluated through written works, quarterly assessments and performance tasks. Thus, they will still do assignments, take quizzes, participate in class discussions (through Meet or online chat boards), and do individual & collaborative tasks/projects. For monthly and quarterly assessments, they will take the exams on the Google Classroom. Instead of the usual 40 to 70 item examinations, examinations will be limited to 25 items because focus will be on open-ended questions which test higher order thinking skills (why and how). To safeguard the integrity of the exams and to avoid cheating, exams can only be accessed for a certain period of time and the students are required to stream themselves while they are taking the exam. ACCI Distance Learning Primer
12
G. ASSESSMENTS Below is the guidelines for students taking assessments: 1. Ensure that you have ample time to complete the test when you start online, you may not be able to start over once they have begun a test. 2. Read all of the directions as you would a regular test, so you understand what you are being asked to do. 3. If there are technical difficulties take a screenshot of the problem (make sure you know how to do this on your computer or tablet before starting) so you can notify the teacher immediately. 4. Double check that you have completed ALL of the items before submitting, as you may only be able to submit once. Students caught cheating during examinations will automatically earn “0” in that examination and will be given a conduct grade of 70 by the subject teacher concerned.

H. SCHEDULE The school believes that learning happens if there is STRUCTURE and DISCIPLINE. Thus, our students will still follow a schedule. They are expected to accomplish all learning targets during the scheduled class period. Pre-school & Elementary classes are scheduled in the morning while Junior High School & Senior High School classes are scheduled in the afternoon.
This is to facilitate the sharing of devices among siblings and so that the older students can assists their younger siblings. The morning and afternoon schedule is also adopted to make sure that connectivity will still will be sufficient. Below is a sample schedule for Preschool:

I. ACCI Advantage During these uncertain times, education should not take a backseat. In fact, it must be prioritized because what kids will be learning – including their habits – will define who they will be in the future. Thus, parents must choose a school which will provide not only the materials for learning but more importantly the support to both the child and the parent (and/or guardian). Here at Active Community Contributors Institute, we take our job of molding students’ minds and characters seriously. We commit to develop their love for learning by making each lesson engaging and enjoyable. Thus, we have several initiatives/ programs which will make sure that S.Y. 2020-2021 meaningful and fruitful for our students.

J. Guidelines for Students
Students are expected to quickly communicate with school (through their class adviser) their learning needs and concerns via email and FB Messenger. They should accomplish all weekly learning targets (including completing online work and taking assessments) to earn a grade. If a student fails to complete an assignment and there was no communication, then the student shall earn a failing grade for the assignment. If technology is the issue, then students or parents must call the school as soon as they know about the technology issue to inform staff, and at that time, a new deadline can be determined. Students must use their G Suite account (acci.edu.ph) to access all online learning resources through the Google Classroom. They need to have a headset with a microphone. We recommend using a desktop computer or a laptop with built-in camera to make it easier for you to finish tasks. Deskstops/ laptops also have bigger screens which are easier on the eyes. If a desktop/laptop is not available, we recommend tablets (with keyboard) with larger screen size. They must also have dependable internet connection and Google Chrome as a browser.

J. Guidelines for Students You are expected to use Scholastic Go! to research about your topics in Science and English. You will be given a log-in code by your English teacher at the beginning of the school year. We encourage you to read a book a day. You have access to thousands of books (both fiction and non-fiction) through the Scholastic Learning Zone. For the younger students, video adaptations are available at Bookflix for the stories to come to life. For the intermediate students, you can use Trueflix to learn more about people, places, history, science and nature.

M. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Will the students use notebooks and textbooks? A: We have prescribed textbooks in English, Math, Science, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan to facilitate learning. These will be used to learn about content and to apply concepts through the learning activities in the book. You don’t need to buy notebooks for every subject because most of the exercises will be online or in the book. Q: How can I supervise my kids if I have work? A: For the parents of Kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils, we expect you to find a learning partner (grandparent, older sibling, etc.) who will help your child access the materials online and assist with some of the school works. The adviser and the subject teachers will do the teaching. For the parents of the older students, we just expect you to check on the learning targets daily and to communicate with the teacher regularly. ACCI Distance Learning Primer
25
M. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Q: What if we don’t have a computer at home? A: Tablets and mobile phones can be used to access the materials online. To save data, we recommend that you save the materials that you need for the week so that you don’t have to access the internet daily. You can also request for soft copy of the files from the school. Q: What if we don’t have access to the internet at home? A: We will limit the use of the internet to accommodate those who don’t have internet plans. We will also use the textbooks and issue all the learning resources posted online quarterly to limit bandwidth usage. However, we still expect our students to attend regular virtual meetings and to take the scheduled online tests and assessments, so we encourage parents to allot budget to subscribe to surf promos.
Q: How will attendance be checked? A: Students are expected to be active participants daily in their independent and online learning experience. Teachers will track virtual attendance in the following ways: ✓ Participation in online activities ✓ Completion of assignments and performance tasks ✓ Participation in video conferences and collaborative projects (Google Docs, Slides, etc.) ACCI Distance Learning Primer
26
M. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Q: Whom do we contact when we have concerns? A: Your child’s adviser is your first point of contact for any academic questions. Please contact them via email or Messenger. For all other questions, you may contact us by phone or through our official social media account. Q: How will I check my child’s account and pay? A: Your child’s account data and grades can be accessed online through Schoolmate. We will give you the log-in and password during the Familiarization Program. You can pay online (through bank transfer or G Cash) or in the campus.
Q: Do I still need to secure examination permit? A: No, you don’t have to secure examination permit because permits will be forwarded to the adviser and teacher. We will contact you if your child will no longer be allowed to take the exams because of school accounts. The school policy is we allow all students to take the exams provided that their account is updated (i.e., no piled up monthly fees of 3 months and above). Q: Will there still be extra-curricular activities? A: The thrust of ACCI education is holistic formation, so we have scheduled different ONLINE activities such as webinars and workshops to reinforce and supplement what the students are learning in the classroom.
