Match reports from last weekend Five wickets from Rhodes sets up Green 1st XI victory Bridgnorth won the toss and chose to bat first. They were soon in trouble though as opener Ryan Lockley saw 4 batting partners head back to the pavilion thanks to Zain Ul-Hassan and Jerome Taylor. UlHassan struck twice - Sam Whitney was caught behind by Ash Brewer for 9 and Matt Martin holed out to Rehaan Edavalath for 5. Captain Exall fell next trapped lbw without scoring by Taylor and Michael Hill went the same way after facing just 2 balls. Matty Simmonds joined Lockley and they set about rebuilding the innings, they had taken the score to 52 before George Rhodes took two quick wickets. First Lockley was caught by Ryan Tongue for 29 then Ben Lees was bowled for a duck. 52-6 became 85-8 as Simmonds fell lbw to Rhodes for 13 and Adam Quiney was caught by Ul-Hassan off Taylor for 19. This left Sam Baugh and Henry Roberts at the crease to try to get Bridgnorth to a decent score. Their partnership built with Baugh in particular scoring well – they took the score to 137 before Rhodes trapped Roberts lbw for 8. Baugh and Charlie Waler added a further 18 runs before Rhodes grabbed his fifth wicket as Walker was caught by Edavalath. Bridgnorth finished 155 all out in the 45th over, with Sam Baugh 57 not out and Rhodes ending with figures of 5-39.

The Green had 65 overs to bat so there was no early pressure to score at pace. Openers Rehaan Edavalath and Ryan Tongue put on 43 before Baugh trapped Edavalath lbw for 19. Ollie Halion (1) came and went caught by Martin off Quiney and when Tongue was run out by Walker for 26 the Green were wobbling slightly on 47-3. The skills and experience of Zain Ul-Hassan and George Rhodes steadies the ship and runs started to flow. Their match-winning partnership of 75 was broken when Ul-Hassan was caught by Walker off Whitney just after reaching his half century. With the score on 141 and victory in sight the Green lost two more wickets, Ollie Rogoff (5) was run out by Hill and then Rhodes was caught by Lees off Hill for 40. This left Phil Harris (8 not out) and Jerome Taylor (10 not out ) to see the Green home to a 4 wicket victory in the 29th over. The 24 points take the Green to third.

Hennessy and Styes pile on the runs for 2nd XI before Clements destroys Coombs Wood Captain Elliot Hennessy won the toss and chose to bet first. After losing Rob Wilson (1) caught by Baker off Tierney with the score on 20 Hennessy was joined by Jay Styles to form the partnership of the season so far. Both batsmen took advantage of the short boundary hitting multiple fours and a few sixes with Hennessy in particular being very destructive

The outstanding partnership of 220 was only broken when Hennessey was caught by A Tierney off Whitmore for 134, this came off just 90 balls and including 14 fours and 7 sixes. 240-2 became 278-5 thanks to 3 wickets from A Tierney. First ben Sutton was bowled for 3, Jake Hill was caught by Smith for 4 and Lewis Regan was also caught by Smith for 16. Jack Curtis joined Styles who was heading for his own century – they had put on a further 43 runs when Styles was caught by S Tierney off Whitmore for 104, this came off 144 balls and included 13 fours and 4 sixes. This led to an immediate declaration from the Green on 321-6 leaving Jack Curtis 21 not out. The Coombs Wood innings started well with an opening partnership of 86 from A Teirney and Jinks. Ben Clements joined the attack with immediate impact as Tierney was caught by Jay Styles for 47. 86 for 1 became 96 for 6 as Clements was almost unplayable – well supported by Elliot Hennessy at the other end. Jinks was clean bowled by Clements for 33, Whitmore was bowled by Hennessy for 1 Clements bowled both Timmins (0) and Smith (4) and S Tierney holed out to Jake Hill off Clements for 4 – giving Clements his 5 wicket haul. Coombs Wood rallied a bit with a partnership off 56 from Bryan and Baker taking the score to 152 before Sam Clements caught Bryan off Hennessy for 12. Hennessy struck again when Whyte was caught by Hill without scoring. Ben Sutton chipped in with a wicket as Baker was caught by Regan for 31. Fittingly it was Ben Clements who ended the innings on 183 and won the game when he bowled Crannage for 16 with Woodley 6 not out. Clements devasting spell of just 6.5 overs included two maidens and he ended with figure of 6-11.

95* from Davies in 3rds win over Bartestree & Lugwardine Captain Callum Morris won the toss and chose to bat and he opened the innings with Amaan Edavalath. The first wicket fell on 27 when Edavalath was caught by Das off Lunt for 6. Middlebrook joined Morris and they put on 31 before Morris was run out by Tulacz for 29. Akhil Mohan joined Middlebrook and again the partnership had just started to build when Middlebrook was caught by das off Koralalage for 29. Ollie Davies came in at 5 and played a match-winning innings which was well supported by Luke Haffield after Mohan (10) was caught by Jose off Koralalage. Davies passed 50 and the partnership with Haffield has reached 45 when Haffield was caught and bowled by Koralalage for 12. He struck twice more as Lliam Campbell was stumped by keeper Robinson for 6 and Amal Babu was caught by Tulacz for 0. Albert Paul joined Davies with the score on 168 and this pair saw then innings out and took the Green to 211-7 with Davies 95 not out. Koralalage finished with 5-56.

The Bartestree & Lugwardine reply started solidly with a 35 run partnership between Tulacz and Acharya. Captain Morris rotated the Green bowlers in hope of a breakthrough and that came when Ollie Davies bowled Acharya for 14. Amal Babu then ran out William for 10 to leave Bartestree & Lugwardine 66-2. This brought Dave Robinson in to join Tulacz and they build the best partnership of the innings with Tulacz being the dominant partner. He was eventually dismissed when Lliam Campbell had him caught by Babu for 44. Nevin Thomas and Robinson added a further 23 runs before Thomas was caught by Luke Haffield off Campbell for 16. Two further bowling changes paid dividends as Max Middlebrook and Amaan Edavalath grabbed 3 wickets each. Two wickets fell on 157 when Middlebrook trapped both Jose (2) and Bradbury (0) lbw. Two wickets fell on 177 too as Edavalath clean bowled Lunt and Das both for ducks. Middlebrook took the key wicket of Robinson – clean bowling him for 23. The visitors innings came to an end on 184 as Edavalath had Koralalage caught by Haffield also for a duck leading to a 27 run win for the Green.

4th XI fall short against Worcester Nomads. Nomads won the toss and chose to bat. They made 180 for 6 in their allotted overs with David Sutton taking 2-28 and Ben Rowe taking a wicket in his first senior game. In reply the Green started well with a good partnership between Bertie Bannister (20) and Tim Dickinson (22) but a flurry of wickets from Queen curtailed the run chase. Dave Sutton hit 52 and runs on debut from Ash Glover (16), Matt Glover (19) got the Green close but they fell 30 runs short when they were all out for 149.
