O’Hare Airport Runway Arrivals/Departures/Use* The O’Hare Compatibility Commission (ONCC) works to find solutions to improve the quality of life for neighbors near O’Hare International Airport. In our continuing effort to keep O’Hare communities apprised of runway progress, we offer this O’Hare Airport Runway Fact Sheet highlighting arrivals, departures and use, as forecasted by the Federal Aviation Administration. All current and future runways accommodate all aircraft operating at O’Hare International Airport. Use this fact sheet with the accompanying Chicago Department of Aviation’s Future Runways and Noise illustration to see a “big picture” of how the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP) is striving to achieve its goal to become the most efficient airport in the country. For example, reading left to right for Runway 9L: In a typical 24-hour day at OMP Full Build Out, the FAA forecast indicates 9L will experience 8.8% daytime arrivals; 1.0% night arrivals; 0.1% daytime departures; and 0.0% night departures. The forecast indicates 9L will be in service 4.4% of the day and 0.6% of the night. ONCC’s unique approach brings to the same table all the parties most able to reduce aircraft noise. Participants include the Chicago Department of Aviation, community leaders, the airlines, pilots, the FAA, air traffic controllers, and other aviation stakeholders.
