CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES STUDENTS' FORUM The Student's Forum organises meetings, competitions and other such co-curricular activities and provides an opportunity for the students to exhibit their talents. The annual festival of the forum "POLYFEST" is celebrated in the month of December / January every year.
THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (INDIA) STUDENTS' CHAPTER The Institution of Engineers (India) Students' Chapter has been functioning in our Polytechnic College since 1978. Meetings addressed by eminent personalities from the industries and institutions are arranged periodically. (All students of Polytechnic College are eligible to become members on payments of a subscription of Rs. 20/- per year for three years.) The Chapter improves technical know how and leadership qualities of students. After completion of Diploma, the students can enroll as Senior technicians in the Institution of Engineers (India) and are eligible to do AMIE Section A & B to quality themselves equivalent to Bachelor of Engineering. NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME NSS of our Institute has two units with 200 volunteers. They undertake community and rural development activities in and around the adopted villages. These units concentrate on Adult Education programmes, Health and hygiene campaigns etc. In Addition to regular activities, special camps are also conducted. NATIONAL CADET CORPS The Institute has a Signal unit and an Air Wing unit. These units are open to the interested students. The training in the above develops self reliance and discipline.

DETAILS OF SANDWICH COURSE & INDUSTRIAL TRAINING In industry, the Foreman or Supervisor occupies a key position as the leader of primary working group of craftsman. The performance of supervisor entirely depends upon the extent to which he blends theory with practice. The Sandwich scheme envisages a thorough integration of industrial training with institutional study. This will very much help to improve the practical knowledge and enable them to provide solutions to the problems they face, as engineers in industrial setup. Both training industry and the teaching institution bear equal responsibility for the success of the scheme. The students of Diploma Course in Mechanical Engineering under Sandwich pattern will have Industrial Training during their IV & VII semesters.
