3. Different Types Of Houses

-Yogesh

Write down an assignment about different types of houses with their picture.

Condominium A condominium is a home among many within one building or series of buildings on a piece of land. Each owner has title to the unit. The building is governed by an elected body (HOA in the United States / Strata Council in Canada) who makes decisions on behalf of all unit owners and owns the communal areas and land. They make decisions pertaining to maintenance, the grounds, regulations, etc. ● Duplex: A duplex condo refers to a two story condo unit, often the result of joining two separate units and renovating them into one larger unit or built that way from the start. ● Triplex: Same as duplex condo but three levels.

The terms duplex and triplex in the sense they are two or three floor condos, stems for its use in New York City. In other towns, duplex and triplex refers to two and three unit buildings side-byside. As you can imagine, there is fierce debate about the technical definitions, but in current jargon, the terms are defined differently in different areas. Some structures that appear to be townhouses (row house design) are technically condos because the owners only own the unit and not the shared space.

Apartment An apartment is a group of housing units in one building all owned by one entity. In other words, all the units are owned by one entity. The units are then rented out to tenants. This is the key difference between a condo and an apartment. With a condo, individual entities (i.e. person or corporation) own the units, whereas with

apartments, all the units in the building are owned by one entity.

Co-op A co-op is similar in physical appearance and function as a condo and apartment, but the financial and legal arrangement is different. With a co-op, each entity that buys in, doesn’t own a particular unit; instead they own a percentage of the building. The owners are akin to shareholders

of the entire property and technically lease their unit from the co-op. What’s the advantage to a co-op over a condo? It boils down to the co-op association (the co-op members) can reject a prospective buyer from buying into the building. That said, they co-op association can only reject on financial basis and/or unwillingness to follow the rules set out by the association. A condo HOA/strata cannot reject a prospective buyer as long as they fit within the rules (i.e. age restrictions).

Townhome A townhome is like a row home sharing one or two walls. They are usually 2 or 3 stories tall. Some rise even higher. They are different than a condo in that owners of a townhome own both interior and exterior of the unit and are therefore financially responsible for maintenance of exteriors. With condos, the exterior of the building is maintained by the regulatory body (HOA or Strata Council). A townhome is more like a single family home except for being attached to another unit either on one or both sides.

Bungalow The bungalow is derived from small houses in India stemming from “Bengali house”. In fact, since the cottage style house with thick walls didn’t work in India, the bungalow was developed. A bungalow is a small, square, single-story home with front porch. The single floor is raised up with front steps leading up to the porch. Often there’s a single dormer window built into a pitched roof in the attic. These types of homes started being

built in the USA in the early 1900’s. They’re found all over the country now. These days, bungalows aren’t too common given the penchant for much larger homes. Moreover, with computer-aided design, simple designs are no longer necessary to keep costs lower.

Cottage The term cottage stems from England. While in today’s parlance it refers to a small vacation home, historically it’s a small home with a high thatched roof, thick walls and a single room.

In an odd twist of irony, some wealthy people refer to their vacation properties as “the cottage” which downplays what is really a luxurious vacation home. For example, sometimes the spectacular Newport, RI mansions built by the Robber Barons are referred to as “cottages” which in no way resemble the traditional definition of a cottage. Because there are several meanings to the term cottage, we include 3 photo examples: Historic English cottage

Chalet Chalet stems from the structures that housed sheep and goat herders in Switzerland. Today it’s a vacation home, usually in the mountains. Now that skiing is popular globally, chalet often refers to a vacation home where there is access to skiing. However, a chalet, technically speaking, has certain design characteristics. They include a

steep roof and long overhangs. This roof design is for handling piles of snow.

Multi-family A multi-family home is one that has two or more housing units. It’s an umbrella term for a detached home with an in-law suite, apartment building, townhouse development, condo building, etc.

Mansion A mansion is a large, imposing home (read our indepth analysis on what is a mansion). Interestingly, there is no legal definition regarding how big a home must be in order to be a mansion. Moreover, there isn’t consensus within the real estate industry either. I definitely have my thoughts on the issue though. Here it is.

I believe in order for a house to be a mansion, it needs to be at least 12,500 square feet in size. Here’s how I came up with 12,000 sq. ft. In 1950 the average house size was a tad under 1,000 sq. ft. Today, the average house size is 2,500 sq. ft. That’s 2.5 times growth in size for the average home. In 1950, I suspect any home that was 5,000 sq. ft. was considered a mansion. Since the average home size is now 2.5 times bigger, the size required for a home to be a mansion should be proportionate. 5,000 x 2.5 equals 12,500 sq. ft. Many suggest, even today, that a 5,000 sq. ft. home is a mansion. I don’t agree. Many homes are 5,000 sq. ft. A mansion isn’t a size set in stone; instead it’s a term to distinguish a house from the average house – something huge and luxurious. See mega mansions here (20,000 sq. ft. plus).

But, I do think 5,000 sq. ft. can be a McMansion. Historic mansion

Yurt Once upon a time my wife and I seriously considered buying a parcel of land and getting a yurt. We’d be mortgage-free and have a comfortable home.

The yurt is the primary housing structure used by the Mongols in Mongolia. They are a nomadic people. Since yurts can be packed up and moved easily, it’s an ideal type of home for them. A yurt is round. The wall and roof is a waterproof fabric. While traditional yurts are fairly rustic, you can have custom-built yurts built with pretty much all the amenities of a regular home. While some people in North America live in them yeararound, other people have them as vacation homes. They vary in size from approximately 12 feet in diameter (115 sq. ft.) to 30+ feet in diameter (706 sq ft) . They are relatively inexpensive to have built.

Castle Of all the atypical types of houses that I’d love to live in, a castle is number one on my list. While I’ve not done a castle tour, it’s on my bucket list for sure. I’m a history buff and so touring such important historic structures that housed notable historic people fascinates me. There are many different types of castles that were built from early middle ages through the

19th century. Their primary purposes were to house and defend. Over the many hundreds of years that castles were built, their design evolved. See all castle galleries and articles here.

Underground House While the term “bunker” refers to some form of bomb shelter or protective shelter, some people do live in underground houses.

5. Stories From Panchatantra THE JACKAL AND THE DRUM One day, a jackal called Gomaya was very hungry, and was wandering about in search of food.

After some time, he wandered out of the jungle he lived in, and reached a deserted battlefield. In this deserted battlefield, a battle was fought recently. The fighting armies had left behind a drum, which was lying near a tree. As strong wind blew, the branches of the tree got rubbed against the drum. This made a strange noise.

When the jackal heard this sound, he got very frightened and thought of running away, “If I can not flee from here before I am seen by the person making all this noise, I will be in trouble”.

As he was about to run away, he had a second thought. "It is unwise to run away from something without knowing. Instead, I must be careful in finding out the source of this noise". He took the courage to creep forward cautiously. When he saw the drum, he realized that it was only the wind that was causing all the noise. He continued his search for food, and near the drum he found sufficient food and water.

FIGHTING GOATS AND THE JACKAL One day while a sage was going through a jungle, he saw two golden rams (billy goats) fighting each other.

Even though both were wounded, and blood was oozing out from their heads and bodies, they did not stop fighting and rammed at each other. At the same time, a hungry jackal was passing by. When he saw all the blood, he started licking the blood from the ground without caring for the fighting rams. Watching all this, the sage thought to himself, "This jackal is a fool as it has become greedy by the smell of blood. If he comes between the fighting rams, it will get rammed and get hurt himself".

No sooner had the sage thought of it, the jackal craving for more blood came nearer to the fighting rams, and got caught in the middle of their fight. Both the rams rammed into him by mistake. He got hit on his head, and fell down because he was severely wounded.

THE CRAFTY CRANE AND THE CRAFTIER CRAB A heron lived near a big lake, which was full of fishes and other water creatures.

The heron had grown so old that he could not catch fishes from the lake anymore. He became lean and weak with every passing day due to lack of food. Unable to bear the hunger anymore, he hit upon a plan. As planned, he sat at the edge of the lake for everybody to see, and began crying.

On seeing this, a crab took pity on him and went near, "Uncle, What is the matter? Why are you crying instead to catching fishes?"

Continuing to pretend, the heron replied, "My child, I would not touch any fish anymore. I have decided to renounce all worldly matters, and vowed to undertake a fast unto death". The crab asked, "If you have indeed renounced worldly matters, why is it that you cry?" The heron explained, "My child, I have been in this lake from my birth. I have grown here. And it is now that I have grown so old that I hear that this lake will dry up as there will be no rains for the next twelve years".

The crab was surprised to hear this, "Uncle, please tell me if it is true. Please tell me where you have heard such things." The heron replied, "I have heard the news from a wise astrologer that there will be no rains for the next twelve years. You see, there is already not much water in the lake. And very soon, due to lack of rains, the lake will dry up completely very soon."

The crab was taken aback by the news of what is to befall on them, and went to tell this to the other water creatures. On hearing this piece of news, everybody started to panic. They believed the heron, as he was not trying to catch any fish at all. So, they met the heron to seek advice, "Please guide us to save us from this disaster"

The heron said, "There is indeed a lake not far from here. It is full of water, and beautifully covered with lotus flowers. There is so much water in the lake, that it would not dry even if it did not rain for twenty four years. I can take you there, if you can ride on my back." He had already gained their confidence. So, they gathered around him and requested to carry them one at a time to the other lake and save them.

The wicked heron had succeeded in his plan. Every day, he would carry one of them on his back pretending to take them to the other lake. After flying a little away from the lake, he would smash them against a rock and eat them up. He would then

return after some time to the lake and relate false messages how they are happy in the other lake. This happened for many days, when the crab said to the heron, "Uncle, you take others to the lake but it is me who is your first friend. Please take me to the other lake to save my life." The heron was happy to hear this. He thought to himself, "Having a fish everyday has become monotonous. It is good that I will get to eat a crab today, for a change." Having thus decided, the heron started carrying the crab to the same rock. The crab looked down from above and saw the heap of bones and skeletons. At once, the crab understood what the heron was up to.

He remained calm, and said to the heron, "Uncle, the lake seems far and I am quite heavy. You must be getting tired, let us stop for some rest". The heron was confident that there was no way the crab could escape from him in the sky. The heron replied, "There is no lake for real. This trip is for my own meal. As I do every day, I will smash you against a rock and make a meal out of you." When the heron confessed the truth, the crab got hold of the heron's neck with its strong claws, and strangled him to death. The crab laughed at himself that he had saved himself and the other water creatures from the trick played by the heron. He dragged the heron back to the lake.

The other water creatures in the lake were surprised to see him back. They became curious, and asked all sorts of questions. The crab laughed and replied, "We were being made fools! The heron was an imposter and what he told about the lake drying up was all false. He was taking one of us every day for his meal in a rock not far from here." He proudly said, "I understood what he was up to, and have killed the trickster. There is no need to worry, for we are safe in this lake. It is not going to dry up at all."

The wise indeed say: When things go wrong, use your wit to overcome the situation.

7.Different Types Of Games NAMES OF OUTDOOR GAME

Nondi/Hopscotch This hopping game, also called Stapoo, is a popular outdoor game. In Tamil Nadu, it goes by the name Nondi. The game involves drawing a grid on the ground and numbering it. Players take turns and throw an object, usually a small stone, onto the numbered blocks. They have to hop across the blocks to pick up the object jumping on one/two legs to finish the lap, taking care not to step on the border lines. It is a group game.

Kabaddi Kabbadi is a team sport which requires no equipment, only agility and strength. It originated in India and is now played globally. Kabaddi in Hindi means holding the breath. Players form two teams with 7 to 12 members each. Players of one team have to break-in the opposing team’s area. While doing so, they need to try and touch as many opposing players as they can. The ‘touched’ players are declared out.

The team with the least number of players at the end of the game is declared the winner.

Kho Kho Kho Kho is a team game which started in India. It gained popularity in 1935 when its rules were brought out by the Akhil Maharashtra Shareerika Shikshan Mandal. It comprises two teams with nine participants each. Members of the chasing team sit on the ground in a straight row with alternative players positioned in opposite directions. The chasers have to catch the opposing team members before the stipulated time is over.

Croquet, Bocce ball or miniature golf If you have a yard of any size, you can make this work. The nature of the games of Croquet and Bocce ball allow the users to change it up every time. Inclines, declines, obstacles… It all works and provides for a different experience each time it is set up. Miniature golf is another option to utilize the natural landscape of your yard. You can create your own course and adjust the complexity or purchase a miniature golf set for the younger kids.

Volleyball or badminton It only takes a little while to set up the net, but both volleyball and badminton offer some nice variety. Challenge the neighbor family to a game where kids and adults can play together. When I was a kid, we would regularly play volleyball at family gatherings. We kept the teams even and everyone played. Height was never an excuse to bail out! If you don’t have time to set up the net, encourage the kids to get outside and volley without the net. There’s also the option to forgo the net completely and improvise.

NAME OF INDOOR GAMES

Table Tennis

Many people across the world play table tennis. It is an indoor variation of tennis, played on a table divided by net with small paddles and a light weight ball. Table tennis is a complex physical sport. It is good for the body, mind and soul. It has many physical as well as mental benefits. It improves flexibility, helps for weight loss, develops motor skills and balance, improves concentration and brain function. Even though table tennis can be played as a high intensity physical activity, there is a very low risk of injury as there is no contact between the players. Table tennis is often called ‘high speed Chess’ due to the tactical challenges presented by the game. Table tennis is definitely a good investment!

Badminton

Badminton is a game played with rackets in which a shuttlecock is volleyed across a narrow net. This game is packed with loads of entertainment and benefits. It is a versatile sport. Regularly playing badminton helps to reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol. It also helps to strengthen heart muscle, reduce blood pressure and avoid hypertension. Playing badminton keeps you motivated, strong and healthy. Badminton is a very friendly game and you can enjoy playing it with friends and relatives. Movie actor Aamir Khan, who also plays badminton well, said that “Badminton is a great way to de-stress and chill out after a hard day’s work.” I totally agree with him

Chess

Chess is one of the most ancient games yet has a great glory even today! Bobby Fischer, my favourite player, described that “Chess is war over the board. The object is to crush the opponent's mind.” In my words, chess is a war of thoughts between two players on a chess board having 16 pieces each with the objective of checkmating the opponent’s king. Savielly Tartakower stated “Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make man happy.” And of course chess makes anyone happy, it is a game for players of all ages and also there is no retirement in chess! People from any walk of life cannot just ignore chess as this game has only benefits. Chess enhances mental development and hence is used to treat many disabilities. You can learn a lot in chess like visualization and judging the body language. You can improve your memory and become more creative. Chess will teach you patience and will power. I played hundreds of chess matches but not two games were the same, every game was a new experience. Chess is more of an art than a game. In this context, I want to mention Aaron Nimzowitsch’s quote “The beauty of a move lies not in its appearance but in the thought behind it.”

Volleyball

Volleyball is a game played by two teams of six players each on a rectangular court divided by a high net, in which each team tries to ground the ball on another team’s court. This is a high energy game in which a lot of physical movements like jumping, squatting, diving and coordinated hand movements are necessary. Our body has many benefits by playing volleyball, few of which are burning excess fat, improving hand-eye coordination and providing physical fitness. As it is a team game, it has many social benefits such as fostering friendship, constant interaction with teammates and learning to cooperate with each other. It has been observed that volleyball players have best figure compared to other people who exercise regularly

Basketball

Basketball is the most popular indoor sport and second most popular team sport after soccer. According to me it is the most inspiring sport. Basketball is played by two teams of five players each. The objective is to throw the ball into the basket at the opponent’s side of a rectangular field. Guys are totally into this sport! Not only playing but also watching basketball is a great thrill as it is a fast

game involving things like shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding and blocking. Even more thrilling is the exciting finishing moments which occur frequently in basketball. That is the reason why there are many memorable sports moments in the history of this sport. Basketball has many health benefits as it demands a lot of physical work. It also has a cultural and social significance. There is a quote saying “Basketball doesn’t build character. It reveals it.” Whenever you are stressed, find a hoop and shoot a basketball!

NAME OF VIDEO GAMES

Nintendo Labo

Nintendo Labo is expensive, frustrating and if you have younger children they will almost certainly destroy it within days... But. If your children are curious, patient and love arts and crafts, Labo is absolutely phenomenal. It inspires creativity and is absolutely something you can build together.

Splatoon 2 For the most part you'll want to steer your children away from online shooters, but Splatoon 2 is the exception. It's wholesome, but also cutting-edge and kinda cool.

It's perfect if you want to give your kids something a little more obviously "kiddy" without sacrificing them at the altar of the almighty Fortnite. Playing online is also relatively safe compared to most shooters.

Splatoon is fantastic.

Super Mario 3D World Super Mario 3D World might be the best child-friendly game ever made.

The levels are open and friendly. The game can be played with simple controls but hides a fair amount of depth for experts. Most importantly, Super Mario 3D World is designed from the

ground up for cooperative play. Some games have co-op tacked on, but everything about this game is designed to suit people playing together.

If you're looking for a game to play as a family, this is the one. If you have a Wii U, that is. The good news: Nintendo is planning to bring this game to the Switch.

Rayman Legends Not only is Rayman Legends endlessly inventive, gorgeous and disarmingly hilarious -- it also has co-op play!

It's difficult in parts, but also has a perfectly pitched difficulty curve. My own children are obsessed with this game. You can

either play together or take turns on some of the more difficult levels.

Mario Kart 8 Mario Kart is a must, and Mario Kart 8, with its user-friendly control options and inventive track design, is probably the best one yet -- especially for young kids. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, recently released on Switch, is the perfect, definitive version of that game. Get on it.

In diwali, people burst crores of firecrackers across the country and that pollutes the environment.Burning crackers also cause noise pollution and it also harms the environment.
