Configuring Internet Explorer for compatibility with SharePoint

As web browsers evolve and respond to the latest security threats, some features of sites we regularly use can be considered risks. To prevent Internet Explorer from blocking features of our NVC SharePoint based web sites, we need to add our domain to the trusted sites, enable compatibility mode and allow for verified popups. Follow the instructions below to configure your browser for compatibility with the campus web site system.

1.) Open your Internet Explorer and navigate to the college home page. Right click at the very top of the window frame (not in the address bar) and make sure “Menu Bar” is checked.

2.) Click on “Tools” from the menu bar and select “Internet Options” from the bottom of the list.

2.) The Internet Options window will open. Click on the Security tab, then select the Trusted Sites icon (green check mark) and click on the “Sites” button.

3.) The trusted sites window will open. The college web site url will already be in the upper text box. Take the check mark OUT of the box that says “Require server verification …” and click the “Add” button. The college web site will get entered into the lower text window. Click on Close and then click on Ok at the tools window.

4.) To enable compatibility mode, click on Tools -> Compatibility View Settings.

5.) When the window shown below opens, enter napavalley.edu in the top text box and click on the “Add” button. Then click on the “Close” button.

6.) To enable authorized popups, click on Tools -> Popup Blocker -> Popup Blocker Settings.

7.) When the window shown below opens, enter www.napavalley.edu in the top text box and click on the “Add” button. Then click on the “Close” button.

You should now be able to edit any of our NVC, SharePoint based web pages.
