Who Are You

My name is Chenchen Song and I prefer to be called ‘Cecilia . I studied jewellery design at China University of Geosciences. When I was a sophomore, I designed a special necklace. The reason why it is special is that it is made from sustainable materials. I am passionate about environmental protection, which needs everyone‘s strength. So, I was inspired by the back-to- back icon and cactuses in the desert.
How about PSEAD Before I joined the 10 week PSEAD course, In my imagination I thought it was just a normal language course, but I was really wrong. I think I am so lucky to take this course. I learned so many different things in a totally different way than before, such as how to get inspiration and how to present ideas in effective ways. Moreover, I also made friends from different countries.

What are your expectations
By Cecilia, 2019, Brighton
All of my inspirations come from drawing. I believe when people go to new places and feel new things, it will be exciting and then it will stimulate our thinking, bringing us unlimited inspiration. To be honest jewelry design is the only thing I have been doing for a long time. I hope that in the future I can design a wedding ring for myself, which will be the most unique in the world. 4

Name: Yili Zhao Language : Mandarin English Previous Education : Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Progressing to: MA Jewellery
PAST I studied jewellery design in Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. After I finished my undergraduate study, I decided to come to Britain for further study of jewellery. During my undergraduate study, I learned the difference between traditional jewellery design and contemporary jewellery design. 5
PRESENT During the language class, I visited many museums and looked at a lot of antique ornaments and contemporary jewellery . FUTURE Contemporary jewellery design pays more attention to the expression of the concept. You can convey your feelings through a piece of jewellery, which is a unique means of communication. No matter what the material, you can produce a piece of jewellery. Therefore, in my future design, I prefer contemporary jewellery design, so t hat I can more intuitively show what I want to express. My aim is to do this with more media, such as performance art or photography. Combine with these three I feel that the material is also further improved. 6

No one can do all the work in a team, you need to distribute the work and assign tasks to team members who are good at those parts of the work. This will make you do the best work you can.
Introduction In this five weeks program, the most important thing I learned was how to participate in group cooperation. When we do group cooperation, we need to do our work reasonably.

Future I am looking forward to my college life, I hope that in college I can make more works that I am interested in and inspired.
This is the box I made during the preparatory course I attended in Cambridge. This is my first attempt to try to do structure. It is a box I designed for my client to protect her eye shadow tray. This box represents her understanding of makeup. Every day when she uses her eye shadow tray, she is full of hope for a new day.

Past Not having studies art seriously before, about two years ago I decided to follow my heart and free myself. So, when I do the project I like, I will always do the best I can do. Because of this there are some problems! Sometimes I cannot realize what is wrong with my production or research process.

past: Name:Fan Country:China Major:jewelry design Previous education:MA This is my graduation work about autistic children.
In my college class---china University of Geosciences, I worked as a metalworker, painted a design, learned Photoshop, and more. Some of my courses there were related to environmentally-friendly and sustainable materials. I used a lot of materials to complete my work, for example, plastic, resin and wood. These materials were just the starting points. 11
Present: During the pre-sessionl language course, the teacher took us to London once a week. One visit was to the Tate Modern. In class we practised listening and writing. We had to do a project every two weeks and my first presentation! These things all prepared us for our future classes, let us adapt to UCA in advance, as a basis. I need to continue to improve my English ability.

In my postgraduate degree, I will start to explore my professional research direction. I have chosen jewellery design. After I came into contact with this field, I became interested in contemporary integrated material jewelry design, making meaningful works with recyclable and environmentally friendly materials such as resins and plastics. I am absolutely excited about my future research direction in contemporary jewelry design. 12
