both … and

not only … but also

• Jika kalimatnya positif, formulasinya: and + subject + auxiliary + too and + so + auxiliary + subject For example:  Dani works in Semarang  Dedi works in Semarang

and … too ; and so …, are used to combine two positive sentences

works adalah Simple Present yang membutuhkan auxiliary ‘does’

Dani works in Semarang, and Dedi does, too. Dani works in Semarang, and so does Dedi.

and … neither ; and … either , are used to combine two negative sentences Neither  not either

Form 

It doesn’t need to add ‘not’ after auxiliary

and + subject + auxiliary + not + either and + neither + auxiliary + subject

For example:  She is not a singer  He is not a singer

Elliptical sentence:

She is not a singer, and he is not, either She is not a singer, and neither is he

Either … or

Neither … nor

Example:

Rini forgot where she put the book. It is either in the bedroom or in the living room

He isn’t a carpenter. He isn’t a plumber. He is neither a carpenter nor a plumber.

Both … and, is paired conjunction. Paired conjunctions are used to express actions that two or more subject take Subject connected by ‘both … and’ take the plural conjunction

Example: a) Both father and mother are watching TV now. b) Both Andi and his girlfriend have slept in the villa We use ‘both’ with plural noun

Not only … but also, is correlative conjunction. Use two verbs that make chronological sense, two adjectives or two nouns Example: a) She not only wrote the text but also selected the illustrations. b) She was not only intelligent but also very musical. c) He is not only funny but also smart.
