MAURA LAMADORE SPIGNESI Head of School

Dear Friends and Families of Fontbonne Academy, With wisdom and grace, we thrive and flourish academically, spiritually and structurally! Fontbonne - her spirit, her community, her value on relationships, her passion for justice and her dedication to empowering young girls has never been more alive!  In the fall of 2016, we mounted a million-dollar campaign to upgrade our school auditorium, a convocation space where relationships are strengthened both internally and externally.  In February 2017, we opened the new CSJ Performing Arts and Convocation Center at Fontbonne Academy. The pages of this Annual Giving Report show those generous gifts from the alumnae and parent communities, as well as the trustees and friends of Fontbonne that have made our new CSJ Performing Arts and Convocation Center renovation a reality. The new CSJ Center strengthens our ability to offer extraordinary girls an exceptional education. Thank you to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston and the Yawkey Foundation for their noteworthy generosity and unwavering support of all-girls Catholic education. The mission of Fontbonne lives in every student and it is the charism and strength of the strong women role models of our past which we look to for inspiration. Within our school walls, we continue to strengthen Fontbonne Academy’s academic capabilities to create innovative ways for young women to dream beyond the classroom and envision themselves as leaders in engineering, technology, business, math and science. Our mission compels us to cultivate a vision for our students that will extend beyond their four years here on the school campus to become active and participatory citizens of the world. Your contributions to Fontbonne Academy make it possible for our Tuition Assistance Fund to assist families in need and allow us to welcome all girls who approach our door for admission, without hindrance. I believe all young women should have the opportunity to attend an all-girls high school and grow in relationship with one another while developing as confident, courageous and moral leaders.  Fontbonne women are inspired by our mission, challenged in our classroom and infused with passion for social change.  They are women of deep faith.  I am honored to work with them every day. As the legacy of Fontbonne Academy strengthens, the impact we have upon the empowerment of young girls to reach their true capabilities grows as well.  I thank you on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Faculty, Staff, Administration, students and parents for partnering with us in this sacred trust.  You are boldly making a difference and continuing the tradition of educating girls to be Women of Courage Made Strong. In gratitude and appreciation, Maura Lamadore Spignesi

Founded in 1954 as a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, Fontbonne Academy is a private, Catholic all-girls high school. Accredited and affiliated by New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) and National Catholic Education Association (NCEA).
