CHORAL CONCERT

Participants in the Whittingham Lives singing day workshop (see page 7) will perform under the direction of Neil Taylor and accompanied by Pete Durrant (piano). The concert will include 2-3 pieces from the new choral suite War’s Embers, by Sasha Manning Johnson with words by poet Ivor Gurney who served in WWI and experienced life in an asylum. In addition some short choral works by composers with mental health problems and a piano solo by Robert Schumann who suffered similarly. If you have enjoyed the films in this year’s festival you may wish to consider going to the 12th International Film Festival organised by the Worldwise Learning Centre at UCLan from 15th - 21st Oct. Like the Arts Festival and I in 4 Festival weeks it is also held in the Mitchell and Kenyon Theatre. There are of eight different films and the festival is open to all students, staff and members of the public to enjoy.
