Food Hygiene in Childcare ESTABLISHED 2003

Course Brief The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage states: 3.46 Providers must be confident that those responsible for preparing and handling food are competent to do so. In group provision, all staff involved in preparing and handling food must receive training in food hygiene. Safe Handling of Medication in Childcare ESTABLISHED 2003

Course Brief This course follows best practice guidelines from The Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Skills for Care Learning Outcomes for Medication at Level 2. This course is designed to enable the learner to safely administer medication to those individuals in their caring environment. It is aimed at those staff that have no formal nursing experience or registration. E.g., domiciliary care staff, support staff or health care assistants. Course materials will include such items as medication pots, spoons, syringes, blister packs, MAR sheets & medication policy.

Course Aims The course aims are to raise awareness to Early Years Practitioners that are responsible for administering medication in a Childcare setting. They will be expected to utilise their current background knowledge and experience in the Childcare setting – be it within their employers workplace or any Childcare environment.

Safeguarding in Childcare ESTABLISHED 2003

Course Brief This one day course is designed to develop an understanding of safeguarding children – basic signs and symptoms and the ability to work together with regard to safeguarding children. The training will encompass key elements of ‘What to do if you are worried a child is being abused’ (Dept. Health 2003) and allow exploration of the signs and symptoms of child abuse, and what may make one child more vulnerable than another. This training is designed to empower practitioners to feel confident in decisions they make about speaking up to safeguard children. The course will particularly address KEEP principles 1, 5 and 6 Every Child Matters outcomes: ‘Stay Safe’, ‘Be Healthy’, ‘Enjoy and Achieve’.

Accredited Paediatric First Aid Training ESTABLISHED 2003

Course Brief This 2 day course can be offered on an accredited or non-accredited basis to clients covering all aspects of Ofsted requirements in childcare settings will enable staff working with children and infants to manage medical conditions and accidents involving children and infants. Staff will learn what to do in an emergency situation and how to perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation to specific age groups. This course has been very well received by local authorities, schools, child minders, nursery nurses and child care staff.

Course Aims The paediatric first aid training 2 day course will enable those working within childcare establishments to gain the knowledge and feel competent to deal with an adult, child or infant emergency situation. Students will recognise childhood medical conditions and be able to give the correct emergency treatment necessary until medical assistance arrives.

Course Objectives At the end of the session the learner will be able to: 1) Describe the action to be taken in an emergency within childcare establishments 2) Demonstrate cardio pulmonary resuscitation (Adult, Child and Infant) 3) Explain first aid procedures for the unconscious casualty (Adult, Child and Infant) 4) Discuss and demonstrate the treatment for specific medical conditions affecting (Adult, Child and Infant) within the working environment. 5) Demonstrate first aid procedure for wounds and bleeding 6) State the main causes of unconsciousness 7) Describe the role of childcare in relation to paedriatric first aid.

3 Day First Aid at Work in Childcare ESTABLISHED 2003

Course Brief This course has been designed to highlight the role of the first aider, the course is developed with up-to-date changes in first aid training and the requirements of The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The course is facilitated and enhanced with information and practical assessment which can include bespoke elements, which are essential for different cases and personnel with different medical conditions.

Course Aims The lesson aims are to ensure the candidate receives a structured course with updated information on new changes and to ensure the candidate is competent as a first aider to facilitate their role within the working environment. The candidate will also receive updates on the use of new first aid tools and equipment and the importance of accurate first aid recording.

Fire Warden Course ESTABLISHED 2003

Course Brief The fire warden course is designed to meet the requirements of any business that have a legal responsibility under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other legislation to ensure that fire risks are identified and the correct fire precautions are utilised to identify and prevent the spread of fire. The role of the fire warden is a very comprehensive responsible role and this course will help develop the competencies required to perform the role within the workplace.

Course Aims The aims of the course are to ensure that the learner is trained and is competent to carry out the role of the fire warden, which will enable the learner to facilitate the very important role of the fire warden in the working environment.
