Sixty Plus at SFSU San Francisco State established Sixty Plus in 1975. Currently, it is a self-supporting, selfgoverning student organization consisting of two Chapters - Beta and Gamma. Each chapter meets twice a month to hear University and other speakers on subjects ranging from current world and local political issues to late developments in science and the arts. Members may audit undergraduate classes at the University on a space available basis without additional fees and with permission of the instructor. They are encouraged to participate in class discussion, but are not required to prepare assignments or take tests. Short term fee classes are offered specially for members of Sixty Plus. Chapters elect their own officers and members volunteer to serve on commitees. A wide variety of learning, cultural, and social activities are offered, including social events, day and overnight tours and discount tickets for performing arts. Chapters manage their own membership funds and coordinate activities through a Joint Executive Board and the University. Sixty Plus provides a lifelong learning experience.
