Now she is performing successfully since last few years. Mr. Madan founder of CTA feels that Mrs. Wason is experiencing the aspect of science and Ms. Sachdeva feels that she is experiencing the aspect of Art. Who is right? Give reasons in support of your answer. Q3 Shiv Nadar, chairman and CEO of HCL attributes the success of the group to its management team and their entrepreneurial spirit which together have enabled it to handle rapid changes in the environment and technologies. Mr. Neeraj, the salesman in Progress Ltd., designed a new cost saving advertisement technique „ through his personal experience and suggests the same to his sales manager but it was not appreciated by his sales manager and he also warned him not to come with any suggestions in future. The production manager assigned a target of producing 1,000 TV sets in the month ofApril to , group of 10 workers. They mutually decided to produce 100 W sets each. Among them, Vishal (one of the worker in the group) fall sick. The other workers refused to divide his work among themselves and concentrated only on the production of their own individual target of production. As a result target of 1,000 TV sets could not be achieved. (a) Name the principle of Fayol which is violated in the given case. (b) What does it state? (c) What should have been the appropriate course at action Q3. Rama" Ltd. was engaged in the business of manufacturing auto components. Lately, its business was expanding due to increased demand for cars. The competition was also increasing. In order to keep its market share intact, the company directed its workforce to work overtime. But this resulted in lot of problems. Due to increased pressure of work the efficiency of workers declined. Sometimes the subordinates had to work for more than one superiors. The workers were becoming undisciplined. The spirit of teamwork, which had characterised the company previously, had begun to wane. Identify any three principles of management which were being violated, quoting the lines from the above case. Q4. 'New Delhi Ltd.‟ is a famous services providing company. Mr. Aman Malhotra is its Managing Director. He continuously motivates his Research and Development department that new and latest methods of doing work be explored. The provisions has also been made to give reward to those employees who will participate in a particular exploration. He also believes that two groups working on managerial and non-managerial posts are similar to two wheels of an organisational vehicle. If this vehicle (organisation) is to be driven in a right way then both the wheels should be property aligned. Mr. Aman is a successful leader. Among his employees, he has instilled the feeling that no decision will be taken without consulting the subordinates. Q5. Nutan Tiffin Box service was started in Mumbai by Mumbai Dabbawalas. The Dabbawalas who are the soul of entire Mumbai aim to provide prompt and efficient services by providing tasty homemade tiffin to all office goers at right time and place. The service is uninterrupted even on the days of bad weather, political unrest and social disturbances. Recently they have started online booking system through their website „mydabbawala.com‟. Owing to their tremendous popularity amongst the happy and satisfied customers and members, the dabbawalas were invited as guest lecturers by top business schools. The Dabbawalas operate in a group of 25-30 people along with a group leader. Each group teams up with other groups in order to deliver the tiffin on time. They are not transferred on frequent basis as they have to remember the addresses of their customers. They follow certain rules while doing trade- No alcohol during working hours; No leave without permission; Wearing of white cap & carrying ID cards during business hours. Recently on the suggestion of a few self motivated fellow men, the dabbawalas thought out and executed a plan of providing food left in tiffins by customers to slum children. They have instructed their customers to place red sticker if food is left in the tiffin, to be fed to poor children later. a) State principles of management applied which are given by Fayol from above paragraph.

Ch 3 : Business environment Q1. With change in the consumption habits of people, Neelesh, who was running a sweet shop shifted to chocolate business. On the eve of Diwali he offered chocolates in attractive packages at reasonable prices. He anticipated huge demand and created a website chocolove.com for taking orders online. He got lot of orders online and earned huge profit by selling chocolates. Identify and explain the dimensions of business environment discussed in the above case. Q2. „ Understanding of environment by business managers enables them not only to identify and evaluate, but also to react to the forces external to their firms.‟ In light of the statement, explain any four points of importance of business environment. Q3. Accent Electronics Ltd.‟ was operating its business in Malaysia. The company started exporting its products to India when the Prime Minister announced relaxation in import duties on electronic items. The company appointed retailers in India who had direct online links with the suppliers to replenish stocks when needed. Ch 4 : Planning Q1. A company is manufacturing garments. The manager wants to increase profits by purchasing new high speed machines or increasing the sale price or using waste material in manufacturing stuffed toys. He decided that „using waste material‟ to increase the profit is the best solution for him. a. Identify the concept of management involved. b. Mention the steps involved in the above process by quoting the line from the question. c. To complete the process of the concept identified in (a), what two next steps does the manager have to take ? Explain. Q2. Suhasini a home science graduate from a reputed college has recently done a cookery course. She wished to start her own venture with a goal to provide „health food‟ at reasonable price. She discussed her idea with her teacher (mentor) who encouraged her. After analyzing various options for starting her business venture, they shortlisted the option to sell readymade and „ready to make‟ vegetable shakes and sattu milk shakes. Then they both weighed the pros and cons of both the shortlisted options. a. Name the function of management being discussed above and give any one of its characteristics. b. Also briefly discuss any three limitations the function discussed in the case. Q3. After completing a diploma in Bakery and Patisserie, Payal sets up a small outlet at Goa Airport to provide a healthy food option to the travelers. To begin with, she has decided to sell five types of patties, three types of pizzas and low sugar muffins in four flavors. Thus, by dividing in advance what to do and how to do, she is able to reduce the risk of uncertainty and avoid overlapping and wasteful activities. But sometimes her planning does not work due to some unavoidable circumstances like cancellation of flights due to bad weather conditions, government alert etc. which adversely affects her client. Ch5 : Organising Q1. Ajanta Foods Ltd. is engaged in the trading of „Noodles‟. It has its registered office in Kolkata, manufacturing unit in Solan and marketing department at Delhi. Which type of organisational structure the company should adopt to achieve its target? Q2. Neeraj Gupta started a company 'YoYo Ltd.' with ten employees, to assemble economical computers for the Indian rural market. The company did very well in its initial years. AB the product was good and marketed well, the demand went up. To increase production the company decided to recruit additional employees. Neeraj Gupta, who was earlier

taking all decisions for the company, had to selectively disperse the authority. He believed that people are competent, capable and resourceful and can assume responsibility for effective implementation of their decisions. This paid off and the company was not only able to increase its production but also expanded its product range with different features. a) Identify the concept used by Neeraj Gupta through which he was able to steer his company to greater heights. b) Also explain any three points of importance of this concept.

Ch6: Staffing Q1. Ashish, the Marketing Head, Raman, the Assistant Manager and Jyoti, the Human Resource Manager or „Senor Enterprises Ltd.‟ decided to leave the company. The Chief Executive Officer of the company called Jyoti the Human Resource Manager and requested her to fill up the vacancies before leaving the organisation. Informing that her subordinate Miss Alka Pandit was very competent and trustworthy, Jyoti suggested that if she could be moved up in the hierarchy, she would do the needful. The Chief Executive Officer agreed for the same. Miss Alka Pandit contacted „Keith Recruiters‟ who advertised for the post of marketing head for „Senor Enterprises Ltd.‟ they were able to recruit a suitable candidate for the company. Raman‟s vacancy was filled up by screening the database of unsolicited applications lying in the office. (a) Name the internal / external sources of recruitment used by „Senor Enterprises Ltd.‟ to fill up the above stated vacancies of Jyoti , Ashish and Raman . (b) Also state any one merit of each of the above identified source of recruitment. Q2. A company was manufacturing „LED bulbs‟ which were in great demand. It was found that the target of producing 300 bulbs a day was not met by the employees. On analysis, it was found that the workers were not a fault. Due to electricity failure and shortage of workers, the company was not able to achieve the set targets and alternative arrangements were needed. To meet the increased demand, the company assessed that approximately 88 additional workers were required out of which 8 would work as heads of different departments and 10 would work as subordinates under each head. The required qualifications and job specifications were also enlisted. It was also decided that necessary relaxation should be given to encourage women, persons from backward and rural areas and persons with special abilities to assume responsible positions in the organisation. All efforts were made to match the ability of the applicants with the nature of work.
