PERFECT ASHLARS The stone used by operative Masons has always been known as a strong, sturdy and lasting material; a material that can support great loads, and withstand the ravages of time; a material when shaped and polished from the rough ashlar can become a smooth object of beauty - whether used as an ornament, as a support for great loads, or as the part of a beautiful temple. The heart of a Mason is strong, it is sturdy, it can support great loads and withstand great stress; it supports the temples of love in man. It differs from stone in that it is not hard, It has feeling; it has compassion; it is capable of love. It lives. It supports life. The heart of a Mason is tempered with justice, expanded by benevolence and strengthened with Love of mankind. Each is strong.
Masonry helps our hearts to sustain a more valuable, happy, more wholesome, fnll, and more useful life.
A temple made of stone is a thing of beauty for the eyes. The temple of Masonry in our hearts is a thing of beauty for the mind, and the soul. A temple of stone is the magnificent work of man. The temple of Masonry in our hearts is the magnificent work of the Great Architect of the Universe. Do we have our hearts in our Masonic and our Community work? Fraternally,

IMAGE SURVEY
Over the years, much has been written by Freemasons about improving the of Freemasonry. Every once in a while, an assessment is made editorially regarding the progress being made in improving the image of Freemasonry. From our assessment, latest it appears some progress may have been made in some areas, but it is far short of the expected result. Now, comes a new question: How can we "improve" our efforts to improve the image of Freemasonry, so we can attain the image
expected goals? Perhaps the best starting point is to better understand that an "image" is something that becomes apparent in the mind. lt is not a physical object that can be
examined, but it does result from an appreciation of physical objects and their behavior. ln the case of Freemasonry the physical objects are Freemasons, their, paraphernalias and all the other objects associated therewith while the behavior is that of the Freemasons individually as well as Freemasons collectively; the individual Freemasons, the Lodge.
Fundamental to the concept of image creation is the being in whom the image to be developed. Here again we must consider those persons outside the Fraternity as a group oriented differently from those persons who are Freemasons constituting the Craft. The first group is non-Masonically oriented; ihe second is Masonically oriented. How effectively can Masons understand what it takes to correct the image perception of non-Masonically oriented persons without both sitting together in dialogue? Before the physician can prescribe the cure, he must form his mental image of the condition of the patient who is sick. Medical doctors will testify to the great difficulty experienced in treating infants who can not communicate their suffering. How can we expect to improve the image of Freemasonry, if we have not first diagnosed the image imperfection and isolated the cause? is
With the coming of the New Year, it is suggested our Lodges turn a serious ear toward the words of non-Masons who may describe their images of our Craft. Better still, initiate a program within the Lodge by forming a Committee to Survey the Masonic lmage in your community. Meet with civic groups. Develop a survey questionnaire. Go out and get the answers. Attitude sampling is a vital part of running a successful business. Shouldn't it be just as vital to Freemasonry?

LUKSANG GUNITA (Ang Kahulugan Nito)
ni MW MANUEL M. CRUDO,
PGM
hanggan; upang
muli at hindi magkahiwalay kailan pa man. magsama-samang
Narito

382. What is the basis of the view, held by some Masonic writers, that Rosicrucians had influenced Freemasonry? The view, held by some Masonic writers, of Rosicru.cian influence on Freemasonry is based on the fact the firit non-operative accepted in an operative lodge in England in 1646 was Elias Ashmole (1617-1692) wix a Rosicrucian, an alclremist, and deliver in occultism.
to an equilateral trinngle with its vertex pointing downward? So far this compiler has not seen the equilateral triangls with its vertex pointing downward in Freemasonry except on the title-page of the book 'lFreemasonry-Its Hidden Meaning" by George H. Steinmets. In the center of the triangle is the Hebrew letter yod, the initial of the four-lettered name of the Deity. In Freemasonry it is invariably interiaced with pnother equilateral triangle, with ttq vertex pointing upward as in the shield of David orthe Seal of solomon. Among the ancients, the interlaced equilateral triangles or six-pointed star is a symbol of God. It is to Judaism as the cross is to Christianjty. 383..1's there any Masonic significance
