Panelists Indigenous Panel Communication Vs Miscommunication Virtual Vs Reality

TOPIC

This panel will explore Indigenous Relations and how we communicate with indigenous people, how we engage with Aboriginal businesses and very importantly how to engage with young emerging leaders. We will also be discussing new technologies and how, as the resources industry, we support remote communities and schools in a more productive way.

The Club facilitates this through monthly industry luncheons, livestreamed panel discussions, our annual Minesite publication and monthly e-newsletters. The Mining Club also supports the next generation through its STEM unitED program, WAMC Young Professionals initiative, Annual Scholarships and university prizes. In addition, we present social networking events such as The President’s Cup Golf Day, Annual Gala Ball and Member-Only Functions.

We will hear thoughts from the panellists about what their ideas might be or discussions they would like to have that are critical at the moment and will be in the future.

Moderator Florence Drummond

IWIMRA

Florence Drummond, Dauareb Wuthathi woman, CEO and co-founder of Indigenous Women in Mining and Resources Australia (IWIMRA) is focused on raising the profile of Indigenous women in the mining and resources sector. Starting as a social network, there was a realisation that this was a conversation that was missing from the industry which the IWIMRA network is striving to contribute to. Working with industry partners and contributing to best practice initiatives, IWIMRA is ensuring that they are co creating opportunities that will enable pathways to leadership and future focused roles, and also into the business sector servicing the industry as a whole. Together with Indigenous women across Australia and also internationally, IWIMRA is a great start to connect with the Indigenous workforce in the mining and resources industry.
