Dear Headteacher Colleague Further to my email to school staff last week, I wish to confirm that, from Monday 15 March, Bridgend schools (including The Bridge) will be providing on-site education for: all primary school-aged learners, vulnerable learners, the children (Year 7 and Year 8) of critical workers (as defined by Welsh Government), learners undertaking essential examinations or assessments, and learners in Years 11 and 13. Special school (including The Bridge) headteachers will be aware that the plans for pupils attending their schools will need to be further tailored to meet the needs of their learners. Secondary schools will also be providing some access to on-site education provision for learners in Years 10 and 12 (especially those involved in examinations and/or assessments), and opportunities for learners in Years 7, 8 and 9 to ‘check in’ with a view to supporting their wellbeing and readiness for return to school. Plans regarding the return to school of pupils in these year groups will be locally determined by individual secondary schools and should be communicated to all stakeholders no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 10 March. In order to support these plans, it is my expectation that all school staff return to school on Monday 15 March. Colleagues are encouraged to work with the local authority’s Corporate Health and Safety Unit to ensure your risk assessments are updated in line with current Welsh Government guidance.

Similarly, it is important that, in addition to encouraging staff to participate in twice-weekly lateral flow testing, you continue to ensure the primary controls (eg social distancing (wherever Ffôn/Tel: 01656 643643
