Step One: Turn on the Scanner
The FLAT BED SCANNER is located to your LEFT. There is an ON/OFF button. It is located on the RIGHT SIDE as illustrated by the arrow to the left.
The ON/OF switch looks like THIS
Step Two: Click on the EPSON SCAN button
We recommend leaving the mode as PROFESSIONAL. It gives you the most control over your output.
You can change the DOCUMENT TYPE, but not the DOCUMENT SOURCE. You can change the EXPOSURE TYPE from PHOTO to DOCUMENT (PRINTED MATERIALS) accordingly
You can change the Image Type (Default is 24bit color), Resolution (300dpi), but we do not recommend changing the document size or target size.
Step Three: SET your material and PREVIEW Place material on the scanner (align with the upper RIGHT CORNER), then click on PREVIEW.
A second window (to the RIGHT of the main window) will open with a title of PREVIEW at the top. You will see a PROGRESS box pop up, which shows the progression of the preview scan.
This is the SCANNED PAGE
Click on the indicated icon, which is AUTO-CROP. A BOX with DOTTED LINES will appear around your scanned materials.
Now you are ready to SCAN!
Step Four: Saving your Scan(s) After you select what you’re actually scanning through the PREVIEW pane, click SCAN.
SELECT WHERE TO SAVE YOUR SCAN: Click on BROWSE Then select DRIVE E: (or the appropriate drive for your media) Then Click on OK THEN CLICK ON SCAN A progress window will pop up, showing the progress of the scan.
Your scan is now SAVED to the media you specified. You can scan another item immediately without reloading the program.
YOU MUST USE USB FLASH TO SAVE WORK! NO INTERNET CONNECTION!
Step Five: Clearing the “preview” of your scan While all scanned material is removed by rebooting the scanning workstation, the workstation is not rebooted often during the day. To protect your privacy, you should CLOSE the Preview window when you finish by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.
...then click on OK to ERASE the previous image. This prevents anyone who follows you during the day from seeing what you scanned.
NOTES: There is NO INTERNET connection on this workstation. DO NOT USE SCANWRITE for the FLAT BED SCANNER. The Flat Bed Scanner is NOT connected to the SCANWRITE program anymore. The BUTTONS on the front of the scanner do not activate anything. They are not enabled. You can make whatever changes to the scanning settings you wish, but if you make extensive changes, please ask the COMPUTER PAGE at the REFERENCE DESK to reboot the workstation for you. This will reset any changes you make. THIS COMPUTER IS LOCKED. DO NOT SAVE ANYTHING TO IT. EVERYTHING IS DELETED UPON REBOOT. If you require media to save images to, you can obtain USB FLASH DRIVES at the CIRCULATION DESK upstairs.
Please report any issues to the COMPUTER PAGE at the Reference Desk.
