WATER Lover Holiday Inspirations

The rivers across this South-East Asian region are life-giving veins that provide trade routes, sustenance, and recreation. The mighty Mekong River links, but has also divided, this region since the fall of the Khmer Empire.
One. For those that love to be on the water in Vietnam, Halong Bay is the
most scenic place to set sail, paddle a kayak, or simply sit-back and witness the postcard-perfect vistas unfold. You can also discover the rural Vietnamese way of life on the Mekong at floating markets, in overwater villages and more. The south of the country is literally awash with options to explore, via waterways. From Ho Chi Minh City, you can cruise through the Saigon River by speedboat, visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels, or explore the Mekong Delta communities on a Le Jarai cruise.
SAIGON SOJOURN FROM
$654pp*
Two. Exploring the Lower Mekong Basin, in Cambodia, is endlessly fascinating. Extreme monsoonal rains flood the river annually, which makes the earth incredibly fertile for rice planting in the dry season. If you visit during the wet season, you will witness the intense volume of water that makes the Tonle Sap River actually flow backwards, or upstream. This natural phenomenon engulfs the overwater community of Tonle Sap Lake, which is made-up of stilted houses over rice paddy farms, and, of course, fishing nets. At least 149 different species of fish exist in the Tonle Sap, and it is a recognised UNESCO biosphere reserve.
Three. One of the biggest natural attractions in Luang Prabang, Laos, is
the stunning Kuang Si Falls. Located about an hour’s drive outside town, the water flows through the jungle, cascading into a series of three limestone pools. Take a hike, explore the surrounding jungle, and then cool-off with a swim in the aquamarine waters. There’s a small entry fee, but the sheer beauty of the falls makes it a must-see!
Four. The Irrawaddy River flows from north to south in Myanmar, and is
sometimes referred to as ‘The Road to Mandalay’. Cruises are popular between Bagan and Mandalay, and the RV Strand is one of the more luxurious vessels on which to make this journey. The Irrawaddy River has also given its name to some now rarely-spotted, endangered species: the Irrawaddy dolphin and the Irrawaddy river shark.
PACKAGE INCLUDES: »» 3 nights accommodation at the 4-star Novotel Saigon Centre, Ho Chi Minh City, in a Superior Room with breakfast daily »» Return private transfers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport »» Le Jarai Mekong Full Day Group Tour – a Local Life tour »» Cu Chi Tunnels by Saigon River – a Local Life tour

Cambodia’s Angkor Wat is one of the great architectural marvels of the world, and was built between the 9th and 13th centuries when the Khmer Empire was at its peak. On day 1 you will begin to discover why Angkor Wat is unlike any of the other Khmer temples, as it was inspired by 12th-century Hinduism. On day 2, visit the ancient ‘Great City’ of Angkor Thom, which contains the famous Bayon Temple with its enormous faces, and the Elephant and Leper King terraces. In the afternoon visit Ta Prohm, which has been left largely in its natural state since its re-discovery by French explorers, and then visit Preah Khan, also known as ‘The Sacred Sword’. Day 3 is spent at your leisure before being transferred to the airport to meet your flight.
Depart the hustle and bustle of urban Cambodia toward the beautiful coastal town of Sihanoukville. Boasting white-sand beaches and clear blue water, this is the perfect place to kick-back and relax, or explore via bicycle. You may choose to explore Ream Maritime National Park and its mangrove forests, offshore coral reefs and fishing villages, or simply relax on the beach before returning to Phnom Penh.

Things to See & Do
Beat The Heat
A Single Tear
Spend an afternoon at the War Remnants Museum. This museum is quite popular, as it is one of the few museums in the world that conveys the brutality of war and its civilian victims. Look out for the spectacular display of US armoured vehicles, artillery pieces and bombs on display outside.
Try something new with a glass of freshly brewed Bia Hoi at a small bar or street corner. This lagerstyle beer is generally brewed daily, mild on the alcohol and can be served over ice. At a fraction of the price of a Western beer, it goes down a treat and earns you some brownie points with the locals.
The impressive Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon was built entirely from imported French materials and tells the story of the rise and fall of French-Colonial rule, and the influence of Catholicism. The Virgin Mary statue is said to have shed a tear in October 2005, whipping worshippers into a frenzy.

With food stalls on every corner, Hanoi is famous for its street-food cuisine. This walking tour has been designed to enable you to sample some of Vietnam’s best street food.
Start your city excursion in the afternoon, not by foot, but on board a traditional bicycle rickshaw known as a cyclo. Sit-back and relax while your driver weaves through some of Hanoi Old Quarter’s busiest streets, rolling past French Colonial houses.
Discover the archipelago of Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site composed of almost 2000 islands. Cruise to Dao Tung Lam Bay where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the world’s most iconic landscapes. Marvel at the huge limestone karsts, before arriving at Paradise Cave – a huge grotto full of stalactites and stalagmites. There is plenty of time to sip a cocktail or 2 (own expense) on the junk’s sun deck, on the return cruise to Tuan Chua Marina, before being transferred back to Hanoi.
Buffalo Tours
You’ll be guided through the narrow, chaotic streets of Hanoi Old Quarter, stopping to devour many of the local delicacies on offer, such as bun cha; said to be Hanoi’s most famous dish of grilled pork, white rice noodles, herbs and dipping sauce. You might like to wash it down with a local Hanoi Beer! INCLUDES: • Street food tastings
Hop-off your cyclo at the Northern Gate of the Hanoi Citadel and explore the rest of historic Hanoi by foot; where you’ll visit temples, sample from wedding cake shops, browse the mat-weaving borough, and finish-up at a local coffee shop. Note Participants must have a reasonable level of fitness

Sapa is an amazing town just waiting to be explored. Not only a popular base for trekking, it is a diverse cultural meeting place of surrounding hill tribes.
Hue served as Vietnam’s capital under the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945, and the city’s regal past can be seen inside the walls of the Citadel and the Imperial City. Thanks to UNESCO funding, much of the city is being faithfully restored to its former glory. The Imperial City, created in the 19th century and modelled on the Forbidden City in Beijing, has many palaces and temples inside.

Traverse the rice terraces, visit a homestay and witness Black H’Mong batik artists at work on the H’Mong Culture – Ta Van & Lao Chai Walking Tour. Don’t miss out on the Sunday tradition of leaving Sapa for the Bac Ha Market, where all the surrounding hill tribes converge to sell their wares in this otherwise sleepy town. For the more adventurous, a half-day or full-day trek, to suit your ability, can also be booked with Buffalo Tours.
Dalat is a former French hill station, untouched by war and enjoyed by locals for its cooler climate. With Buffalo Tours you can discover a fascinating market, the local flower gardens for which the city is known, and the faded grandeur of the Summer Palace of Bao Dai, the last emperor of Vietnam.

Debit card surcharges of 0.6% for Visa and MasterCard will apply when paying by debit card. You authorise us to charge all fees incurred by you in relation to the services provided to the credit/debit card designated by you. If payment is not received from the card issuer or its agents for any reason, you agree to pay us all amounts due immediately on demand. PRIVACY POLICY: We are committed to protecting your personal information and agree to handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available online at www.infinityholidays.com.au/conditions/privacy-policy or ask your travel consultant for details. By providing personal information to us, you agree that our Privacy Policy will apply to how we handle your personal information, and you consent to us collecting, using and disclosing your personal information, as detailed in our Privacy Policy. In particular, you agree that in certain circumstances (such as where you request us to book international travel for you), we are permitted to disclose your personal information to overseas recipients. Such recipients may include the overseas travel service providers (e.g. airlines, accommodation or tour providers) with whom you make a booking. These travel service providers will, in most cases, receive your personal information in the country in which they will provide the services to you, or in which their business is based. We may also disclose your personal information to our overseas-related entities and to service providers who perform services for us within and outside of Australia. Generally, we will only disclose your personal information to these persons in connection with facilitation of your travel booking and/or to enable the performance of administrative and technical services by them on our behalf. Where we disclose your personal information to any person (including all overseas recipients), you agree that we will not be required to ensure that person’s compliance with Australian privacy laws or otherwise be accountable for how they handle your personal information. When used above, ‘disclose’ includes to transfer, share, send, or otherwise make available or accessible to another person or entity. BAGGAGE: Carriers publish baggage allowances applicable for carriage over their own services. Allowances include cabin baggage and checked baggage. These allowances tend to be based on a weight allowance or a piece system. We recommend you check your baggage allowance carefully, as you may incur a charge for the carriage of baggage in excess of their free baggage allowance. Carriers also publish baggage safety notices, which detail items that cannot be carried or can only be carried in checked baggage. Again, we recommend you ask your chosen carrier about the applicable baggage safety requirements. PRE-DEPARTURE CONTACT: Please ensure your travel consultant advises Infinity Holidays of a telephone number or address where you can be reached within 24 hours prior to your departure from Australia. BOOKING ARRANGEMENTS: To make a booking, select the holiday of your choice and then contact your licensed or AFTA travel consultant who will request a reservation for you. All reservations are subject to availability at the time of booking. Any verbal quote given is an estimate only and can only be confirmed when the reservation is confirmed and the deposit is received. When a booking is made, the person effecting the booking is deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions on behalf of all people named in the booking. The contract will be governed by, and subject to, these terms and conditions. No variations to these terms and conditions will be of any effect unless made in writing and with the authority of Infinity Holidays. All communications from us will be sent to your travel consultant. Your travel consultant will, on receipt of any holiday monies, hold such monies for each and every person named in the booking until that booking is confirmed, at which time those monies shall be promptly remitted by your travel consultant to Infinity Holidays. MY TIME: All standard and unique My Time service inclusions and bonus offers are provided by our third-party suppliers to Infinity Holidays’ customers and are subject to availability. My Time thirdparty suppliers may (in their sole discretion) substitute any of the offers for any other offer that is available for similar or no face value. Alcohol-related offers are subject to local minimum-age restrictions. Minimum-stay offers are based on paid nights. All offers have no cash value, may not be combinable with other offers and are nontransferable. Unused offers have no surrender value and are not redeemable for cash. In-resort purchases may not include local tax and service charges. MONIES NOT HELD ON TRUST: All monies paid by you to us will be the property of Infinity Holidays and will be a debt due and payable to the relevant supplier (contingent on availing) once the services to which the money relates have been availed or the relevant booking is cancelled (subject to cancellation fees). You agree and acknowledge that such monies will not be held by Infinity Holidays on trust for or on behalf of you, and we may hold such monies in any account as we see fit, including with our own and/ or other customer monies. GOVERNING LAW: If any dispute arises between you and us, the laws of Australia will apply. You irrevocably and unconditionally submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, and waive any right that you may have to object to an action being brought in those courts. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: You acknowledge that you are 18 years of age or older, and that you understand and agree with the above terms and conditions and our Privacy Policy. Terms & Conditions
AGENCY: Infinity Holidays puts together holiday packages but is not itself a transport, tour, event or accommodation provider: it acts only as an agent for those service providers. Our obligation to you is to (and you expressly authorise us to) make travel bookings on your behalf and to arrange relevant contracts between you and the travel service providers, which you agree may be evidenced by a printed voucher or an email advising of confirmation of booking. It is therefore important for you to obtain and read the service providers’ terms and conditions applicable to the products in your package. Also, make sure you are aware of any exclusions or limitations of liability imposed by the service providers, some of which may limit or exclude liability in respect to death, personal injury, delay and loss or damage to baggage. Infinity Holidays has no responsibility for the products or services provided by these service providers, nor does it make or give any warranty or representation regarding the standard of those products or services. All bookings are made subject to the terms and conditions, including conditions of carriage and limitations of liability imposed by those service providers. We can provide you with copies of the relevant service provider’s terms and conditions on request. Your legal rights in connection with the provision of travel services are against the specific provider and, except to the extent a problem is caused by fault on our part, are not against Infinity Holidays. Specifically, if for any reason (excluding fault on our part) any travel service provider is unable to provide the services for which you have contracted, your rights are against that provider and not against Infinity Holidays.
personal liability insurance. Evidence of such insurances should be produced to Infinity Holidays on request. Insurance cover offered by credit card companies or reciprocal medical cover agreements are often not comprehensive. Travel insurance is strongly recommended by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for all overseas travel. Your travel consultant can provide information to you about travel insurance. For details of the services they provide, including a quote, please refer to their Financial Services Guide/ Product Disclosure Statement.
