CONSIDERING HOW NEW OPTIONS CAN ENHANCE THE EXISTING SCOPE OF WORKS
Thank you for your time last week This document summarises the current agreed scope of works and then provides some further detail around the additional options that we discussed at our meeting. and subsequently. Experience suggests that there are a number of compelling reasons for considering these enhancements at this stage. The decision has now been made to remodel the space adjacent to Match Control and not to use the Sky Space. However infrastructure to allow the sky space to act as a remote addition to the main studio has been requested. This consists of an additional bre link and converters that will allow up to 3 cameras and 4 Microphones. Costs for this work are detailed in our costing. I have included the SKY TV coverage info we referred to during the meeting for your reference, as well as a checklist of some of the graphics you are likely to need - I hope you will nd this helpful. I look forward to hearing how you wish to proceed. Kind regards
Peter Knowles

The technical configuration that Sky use is, of necessity, a ‘one size fits all’ solution. It has to work for every ground from which they are broadcasting - and stands and layouts vary. 6
The most expensive items in their technical armoury are the UHD DigiSuper 86 Box Zoom lenses at well over £75,000 each!

High Definition shooting requires lenses to be manufactured to fine tolerances, and these become even more stringent when high magnification factors come into play. Zoom mechanisms have to be totally smooth - and camera shake becomes a huge issue (the slightest heartbeat when magnified by a fact or 86 becomes an earthquake!) Sophisticated image stabilisation mechanisms are therefore a must. The requirement for all these features to be incorporated into the box lens means that the cost of getting that long distance really big close-up shot very expensive. Unfortunately there is no less expensive way of getting the BCU shot without very visibly sacrificing quality - so the alternative is to manage your coverage in a different way, thereby obviating the need for the extra long lens.

ADDITIONAL GOAL CAMERAS

£2,536
CONNECTIVITY FOR WIRED TUNNEL CAM plus associated wireless audio (existing camera) This will allow us to conduct live interviews in the tunnel. The Tunnel infrastructure required is not huge but adds a cost. However it does provide the basis for our stadium wide broadcast comms system for Radio cameras etc.
RADIO CAMERA UPGRADE
3 4
Sky Space link
Infrastructure
I have costed here two additional camera locations – one behind each goal. This gives us two great locations and future expansion opportunities.
By adding a Teradek Bolt the camera in the tunnel will become fully wireless. This would allow us to use it in many other areas such as corners and on the pitch. NB Cost of infrastructure is only required ONCE but is needed for both options 2 and 3
REMOTE COMMENTARY POSITION ON THE GANTRY The Club’s existing Glensound box (£2800!) is ideal for this, but there is an element of integration required with the system that I have costed. We will need 2x small TVs free issued in addition.
SKY STUDIO CONNECTION
5
This will allow the Sky Space to be be used as a remote addition to the main studio when required. Infrastructure consists of an additional bre link and converters which will allow up to 3 cameras and 4 Microphones to be connected.
