[email protected] [email protected] About the cover It’s a total different prospective to see our golf course from the air. I will be getting many more this year. This photo I thought was interesting because you see the golf course, the ponds and fountains and Noel’s residence and vineyard all on one photo. If you want you can zoom in and see pretty good detail even with this lo-res image. If you see me flying around give me a wave, you might be on the next cover.

President’s Message By Adam Miller
Members, I’d like to thank all the employees at YCC for everything they do to make the club a special place. I know each employee puts a lot of thought and effort into his/her work to make it their best. We appreciate it! Like any business, we’re not immune to today’s challenges of rising costs, supply chain issues, and changing labor dynamics. As we navigate these challenges, one principle comes to mind: “Control the controllables.” While it’s important to diagnose past problems and learn from mistakes, its equally important not to get lost in the coulda, woulda, shouldas. When we come across undesired outcomes, how do we fail quickly, learn from mistakes, and move forward in the best way possible? If anyone has the answer, please let me know. We’ve had a lot of great events and tournaments so far this year and looking forward to many more. Russel and her crew are putting out great food, and the pro shop team is doing a great job with tournaments while we look for a new head pro. Appreciate all the hard work! Regards,
Adam

We have had twenty-three new members join the club since the launch of the Ambassador Club in March. That is a fantastic start, but we still have work to do. Please tell everyone you know what an incredible club we have.
Please stop by the admin office and speak with Janette soon.
I would like to ask you each a favor. Since we are welcoming so many new members to the club, would you say hello and welcome members you do not know. Everyone knows it can be difficult to meet people and get comfortable at a new club, where it seems everyone knows each other. This very small gesture can be a lasting memory to a new member.

Yakima Country Club Ambassador Program In our private club structure, our members are our greatest resource for new families joining our club. Our members’ enthusiasm and love for their club experience is how our community perceives Yakima Country Club. To that end, we are introducing The Ambassador Program which will start in March 2022. This program is a rewards and recognition program for our members who sponsor new members and will operate as follows. • The member who sponsors the most new members (golf and/or social) each month will have his/her choice of a front row parking spot for their car or golf cart for the following month. • For each new member sponsored, the sponsoring members’ name will be in a drawing at the end of the year for either a new set of golf clubs or a $1,000 credit towards one clubhouse event. If you sponsor five new members, your name will be in the drawing 5 times. We will establish a scoreboard of results that will be on the website, in the clubhouse, and promoted in all club branded communication.

Golf Course Superintendent news
By Mitch Larson [email protected] All, Spring is finally here, and we are still waiting on summer to join the party. My staff and I have been extremely busy getting the course prepped for the summer season of member golf and many tournaments. The greens are looking better each day, and I appreciate your patience as we get the greens back to playability. I am very hopeful that the forward tees on #1 will be ready for play by Appleknockers, but we are still focusing on other projects. I will touch base on a few areas or projects that are going on around the property. Rough Height We have been mowing the Rough at 1 ¾” twice per week with a third mowing on Friday to the tree lines on all holes. I feel the rough is looking the best it has since I have come on board, and we are maintaining it as close to that 1 ¾” as possible. Just remember, we don’t mow all the Rough from Friday – Sunday, so it will get long by the end of that period. Fish We have stocked all lower ponds on property with Grass carp and 200 Triploid trout. Eventually when established, we will begin to allow fishing on property. Fishing will be by flyrod or spin reels only with single barbless hooks and absolutely no power bait. All fish that are caught are to be catch and release only until told otherwise.
Riverbeds The riverbeds on property that transfer water from upper pond to the middle pond and the middle pond to the lower pond have been expanded with quarry spalls to give them a natural feel. Eventually, all pond edges will be filled in to match the riverbeds. I look forward to a great month of June.
