Busy month of June It’s hard to believe that in a few weeks’ time we are at the half way stage of 2022! Wow, how time flies! June, has already been an eventful period, with another successful PG Live taking place with a vibrant show in London full of great new products from many Cardgains suppliers who were at the event. Cardgains members were busy spending their special £35 vouchers with enthusiasm and taking advantage of this exclusive offer. We then have, hopefully, a very successful Father’s Day on the 19th to look forward too, the Cardgains Summer Refresh trial and promo programme launch and end the month with the annual Cardgains Charity Challenge.

Summer Refresh We can now confirm the new suppliers and product changes in the Summer Refresh with new trials from Brainbox Candy, IC & G, and Noel Tatt. New top up offerings from Quire and new gift promos from Boxer, Xystos and Yankee Candle. Jim, Ron and Alan are available as always for further details and information. Charity Challenge Since the feature in last month’s newsletter, this year’s event has certainly caught the imagination of members and suppliers, with over 40 walkers now taking part. I am sure everyone is aware that the event is in support of Alzheimer’s Society and we are trying to raise £22,000. The event, taking place on the 30th June titled ‘Ultimate Ullswater’, is a 22 mile walk around this fantastic lake in the Lake District. It’s a serious challenge and the walkers will have earned every penny of the sponsorship they receive. Whilst walk planning was happening, I came across information from walks and challenges we have done over previous years. Looking back through the files it made me realise what as a collective we have all achieved since our first event back in 1999 when we cycled coast to coast from Morecambe to Scarborough! That 150-mile ride was the start of it all and up to now the total monies raised for all our chosen charities is over £350,000

2005 Ben Nevis

Our events have included climbing Ben Nevis, walking around Lake Windermere, having fun in canoes for the Cardgains-athlon, doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks twice, part of the Cumbria Way, the Lyke Wake Walk and a Seaside Shuffle from Whitby to Scarborough, plus many more! We have had regulars who have supported us in many of the events, including Tony Roberts, Nigel Wilcock, Alan Holmes, Nathan Hitchcock, Riou Baxter to name a few and all names known to many of you.

2008 Thames Trundle Twenty odd years on it’s a new breed of fresh-faced walkers joining us ‘veterans’ in the fun. Many are new to the industry and some with personal reasons for supporting Alzheimer’s Society; all up for the challenge, the aching limbs, the blisters, the blood, sweat and tears and everything else which makes it a ‘fun’ and ‘never to be forgotten’ day out. And, I can guarantee that once completed, showered and a glass of beer or wine in hand the conversation will, as always, start with ‘what are we doing next year’? To everyone involved, if it’s your 1st walk or your 21st event with us, good luck and thank you for taking part and raising awareness and funds for this great charity.
