Welcome back everyone to our new dining facility, and if you haven't had a chance to come visit the new dining rooms, below are a few photographs of the areas. We invite you to come and dine with us at your leisure now that we are finished with the soft openings and are now back to normal operating hours upstairs and on the Redan Deck. Although we have some minor punch list items to complete, everything is accessible to full capacity. As you all may know, due to supply chain issues, we are still awaiting the delivery of our permanent chairs, soft seating and lighting scheduled to arrive in late July. We are using our existing furniture to fill the void. I would like to personally thank all of you for your patience during this new aspect of dining in your clubhouse. Due to the high use of our club and so many new members I would like to address a few policies and rules that have been recently challenged. I ask that you read these items, and if you have further questions, please reach out to me directly. Our management staff is doing the very best they can to enforce these rules for the safety and welfare of all members without causing ill feelings or embarrassment. Thank you for your understanding and kindness to the staff. Members may have no more than 5 guests with them at one time. Please contact Heather Felch or myself for extenuating circumstances regarding guests. Dining Operations Update

New Menu Items: (left to right) Crème Brulee, Duck “Tacos”, Crispy Deviled Eggs, Baby Back Ribs, Pasta Carbonara, Mushroom Potstickers, Lemon-Roasted Airline Chicken, Lobster Ravioli, & Tuna Poke. Come in and taste all of our new offerings!

We are very excited to announce that our brand new dining room is officially opened on Wednesday, May 25th to the membership. If you haven’t already, we hope you have the opportunity to visit us soon and enjoy your new spaces. As always reservations are encouraged and preferred and can be made either in-person at the front desk, by calling (757) 428-3131, or by emailing the front desk at [email protected].

Yachting Division The weather is heating up and so are the great events hosted by the Yachting Division! Over Memorial weekend, we celebrated the official beginning of the yachting season with numerous Opening Weekend events from Friday, May 27-Monday, May 30. One of our busiest times of the year, we kicked off the weekend with the Live Aboard Party under the tent with over 200 members and friends enjoying great food and dancing. During our traditional Flag raising ceremony Saturday morning, Commodore Mike Crabbs emceed a wonderful program highlighted with remarks from our guest speaker, Alan Faneca, 2021 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee and Cox High School Football Coach. Other notable Opening Weekend events included a Small Boat Cruise and Pool Party at the Augustine’s home which had over 100 guests (thanks again, Ed and Caren!), a Bubbly Brunch and a Golf tournament and Putting contest on Sunday (Congratulations to Brad Salter for winning the Putting contest). Also on Sunday, seventeen of our yacht owners opened their boats to welcome old and new friends for a Progressive Dock Party to cocktails, dinner and socializing on the docks. The fun concluded Monday with the Joint Tennis Social, a combined event with the Yachting Division and the Tennis Grand Slam Circle. Upcoming Party and Cruise Our next big event will be the annual Commodore’s Party on Saturday, June 18 at the Norfolk Pagoda, in conjunction with the cruise to Norfolk Waterside. We will enjoy a beautifully prepared catered dinner by Dreal’s Creole Southern Soul and music by Doyle and Dunn. Come by boat or car to join in the fun and meet some new friends! —–—— FEATURED FITNESS RECIPE ——–— Asparagus Tofu Stir Fry INGREDIENTS • • • • • • •

1 tablespoon corn starch 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1 1/4 c. vegetable broth 4 teaspoons soy sauce 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger 3 teaspoons olive oil

1 medium yellow summer squash, halved & sliced 2 green onions, thinly sliced 1 pkg (14oz). Extra firm tofu, drained & cut into 1/2 in cubes 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 2 c. hot cooked brown rice 2 tablespoons sliced almonds, toasted

1 lb. asparagus, trimmed & cut into 1in pieces

DIRECTIONS 1. 2. 3. 4.

In a small bowl, combine cornstarch, sugar, broth, and soy sauce, until smooth, set aside In large nonstick skillet or wok, stir fry 1 teaspoon ginger in 1 teaspoon oil for 1 minute. Add asparagus, stir fry for 2 minutes longer. Add onions, stir fry 1 minute longer or until vegetables are crisp tender. Remove and keep warm. In the same pan, stir fry tofu, salt, pepper, and remaining ginger in remaining oil for 7-9 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove and keep warm Stir cornstarch mixture and add to the pan. Bring to a boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Add asparagus mixture, and tofu. Heat through. Serve with rice, sprinkle with almonds.

CHALLENGE Try to eat at least 4 servings of fresh vegetables daily. They are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are typically low calorie, so you can eat more and not gain weight.

Maybe even try a few vegetables you haven’t tried before.

STUDENT SUMMER CHALLENGE Ages 10-13, 14-17, & 18-22 Start Date: June 13th End Date: August 13th Events: Push-Ups: Max in 1 Minute Pull-Ups: Max in 1 Minute Full Sit-Ups: Max in 1 Minute Air Squats: Max in 2 Minutes Train on your own all summer for the above events and on the 13th or before come into the Fitness Center and have Moe or Rod test you on the events. We will post the results on the bulletin board as they come in. Please feel free to ask us on ways to train for these events. Good luck!

PAUL MINIHAN PAUL MINIHAN- All I can say about this transformation is WOW!!!! Paul started his journey weighing 203lbs and finishing at 166lbs. He did it in 12 short weeks. He was incredibly disciplined the entire time. It worked for him, because he wanted it and it was important to him. It is not that he is any stronger willed than anyone else. He just put his focus on himself. You can do it too! Paul followed a Macro diet and worked out consistently. He is now in the maintenance stage and doing very well. Paul’s Tips - Get a trainer. Listen to them. - Eat clean - Get plenty of rest - Drink plenty of water CONGRATULATIONS PAUL! KEEP AFTER IT!
