VIII. Reflective Summary

PPST STRANDS

7.4 Professional reflection and learning to improve practice.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Individual Learning Monitoring Plan PPST STRAND: 3.1 Learner’s gender, needs, strengths, interests and experience ANNOTATION: Learners have different needs to be addressed. That is why teachers must monitor every learner’s needs and progress. Individual Learning Monitoring Plan is a big help to address clearly the needs of every learner. This includes interventions and strategies that may help improve the teaching-learning process. And in this new normal set up that we have, strengthening the link between the parents and other stakeholders will be a great help to attain student’s progress in learning.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Lesson Plan (e.g. DLP, DLL, WHLP, WLL, Lesson Exemplars and the like) PPST STRAND: 3.4 Learners in difficult circumstances; 4.1 Planning and management of teaching and learning process 4.2 Learning outcomes aligned with learning competencies; 5.1 Design, selection, organization and utilization of assessment strategies.

ANNOTATION: Making lesson plan in this new normal set up is a bit different from the way we do it before. There were additio things and circumstances that must considered while doing it. Learners with special needs must also be able to acquire competencies needed despite of their situations. That is why as seen on the above lesson plan, it contains various activities t can be done by every learner, even those who has special needs.

ANNOTATION: Weekly Home Learning Plans were made to serve as a guide for the students. It is important that the instructions were clear and directed properly so that learners won’t astray in achieving the objectives and will be able to acquire the learning competencies that they need. And in making WHLP, the different circumstances of the learners must always be considered

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Certificate of Participations in any Professional Development (PD) Activities PPST STRAND: 7.3 Professional links with colleagues 7.5 Professional development goals

ANNOTATION: Learning with colleagues is one the best way to improve ourselves. Being open to one another’s perceptions and ideas is a great help in developing different concepts, strategies and practices in improving the quality of education that we are giving to our learners.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Certificate of Participations in any Professional Development (PD) Activities PPST STRAND: 7.3 Professional links with colleagues 7.5 Professional development goals

ANNOTATION: As pandemic occurs, everyone are new in facing this kind of situation. So every teacher as well as the other school personnel must be open for new learning in order to cope up with the new situation we are into. From making lesson plan to the mode of teaching, most of them has changed. That is why everyone should embrace the new knowledge, concepts, strategies and practices that we acquire from the various trainings and seminars that we had.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Teacher-made/Modified Learning Resources PPST STRAND: 4.5 Teaching and learning resources including ICT

ANNOTATION: In this new normal set up, providing more applicable resources and materials is vital. On my student’s experience, reading the module alone is not enough to understand the lessons. That is why I provide other materials to help understand it better. Providing a video lesson, youtube links, pictures, and presentations were among those modified learning resources that I have used. And seeing the progress on the learners’ output, I consider it as a helpful intervention.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Teacher-made/Modified Learning Resources PPST STRAND: 4.5 Teaching and learning resources including ICT

ANNOTATION: Instead of letting my students answer on piece of paper all the learning tasks given on their module, I provide activity sheets for them. It contains lesser number of learning tasks (some are modified). I use pictures, graphs and tables and make sure that the spaces provided for their answers are enough. And I use colored ink in printing so that the activity sheets will be eye-friendly for my students and may add interest for them to answer it.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Engaging Learners for their Progress and Achievement PPST STRAND: 5.2 Monitoring and Evaluation of Learner progress and achievement 5.3 Feedback to improve learning

ANNOTATION: In this new set-up of education, we give our students’ grades depending only on the outputs that we receive from them. It is important to monitor consistency of the outputs that they are submitting to us, so that we will be able to address their needs and give interventions to save them from failing. One of the best instruments that we must use to monitor their progress is the summative test, it shows the individual as well as the whole section’s progress through MPS.

REQUIRED NAME OF ARTIFACT: Engaging Learners for their Progress and Achievement PPST STRAND: 5.2 Monitoring and Evaluation of Learner progress and achievement 5.3 Feedback to improve learning

ANNOT ATION: Since students are not able to come to school, and we have no chance to meet all of them, it became more challenging for us to get to know more about our students. The different platforms that we have right now were really a great help in giving feedbacks about their performances, asking them how are they doing, in what areas they experience difficulty and more. And that hugely helped us to provide interventions to improve the learning of our students.

SELF-SELECTED NAME OF ARTIFACT: MOVs on professional engagement with colleagues PPST STRAND: 7.3 Professional links with colleagues

SELF-SELECTED NAME OF ARTIFACT: MOVs on engaging Key Stakeholders in the Teaching-Learning Process PPST STRAND: 5.4 Communication of Learner needs, programs and achievement to key stakeholders 6.2 Engagement of parents and the wider school community in the educative process

Bigajo is actively doing his part in distributing and retrieving of modules from the students in his area. To ensure the quality of education that we give to our students, everyone must take part and help especially during this tough times.

NAME OF ARTIFACT: REFLECTIVE SUMMARY PPST STRAND: 7.4 Professional reflection and learning to improve practice REFLECTIVE QUESTION: Do you feel that this collection of work really reflects your abilities and what you have achieved this year through the LDM course? Why or why not? Being a teacher in the middle of this pandemic is really challenging. A lot of things has changed but nothing changes with the passion and versatility of teachers towards their profession. From the unlimited seminars and trainings attended about how are we going to cope with this new normal situation, to preparing modules and answer sheets and sorting them out, to checking of outputs, recording and making of grades, to home visitations, monitoring their performances and giving interventions to save them from failing this school year. All of these were done by teachers just to ensure the quality of learning they are giving to every learner. Every teacher exerted more than extra effort in different means and various aspects in order to achieve the goals of the Department of Education and that is to cater the needs and deliver the best quality of education to every student amidst this time of pandemic. This collection of work is only a glimpse of all the accomplishments and sacrifices of a teacher during this tough school year. Every evidence included in this output has more stories to tell and lessons learned. However, this LDM2 output helped us to reflect on what goals we have achieved, what best practices we have executed, what are the things we’ve failed to do, what lessons we have learned, and how far being a teacher can take us.
