The film followed the young geisha Nitta Sayuri and how transcended her fishingvillage roots and became one of Japan's most celebrated geisha. geisha, you must be born beautiful and charismatic.
Sayuri went on to become a successful geisha not only because she was charismatic and could hold a conversation for hours, but she was also strikingly beautiful. She had blue-gray eyes that one never comes across in Japan. This one feature set Sayuri apart from the other geisha and thus was the reason she went on to becoming successful in the first place. Although this film had many historical inaccuracies with geisha during the time period, it was a great view into their secret lives.
