MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE BEDFORD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HELD MARCH 7, 2013 AT THE ADMINISTRATION CENTER AT 6:00 P.M. The audio recording of this Board of Education meeting is hereby incorporated into the official minutes. Mrs. Kozak, President, called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. with the following Board of Education members present: Mrs. Kozak, Mrs. Hilty, Mrs. Patterson, Mr. Tench, Mr. Stevens The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Board Action 2013-027 Motion by Mrs. Hilty, seconded by Mr. Tench, to approve of an overnight field trip for four Bedford High School students who qualified to compete in the Marketing Education DECA Competition to be held in Columbus, Ohio, March 15-16, 2013, under the supervision of Steve Teringo, Business Education teacher, and approval of an overnight field trip for two Bedford High School students who qualified to compete in the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference to be held in Columbus, Ohio, March 14-15, 2013, under the supervision of Felicia Short, Business Education teacher,

and approval of an overnight trip for three Bedford High School wrestlers who qualified to compete at the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament which was held in Columbus, Ohio, February 28 – March 2, 2013, under the supervision of Adam Hoon and Doug Thomas, Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant Wrestling Coach respectively, and approval of an overnight field trip to Washington, D.C. for approximately 100 eligible Heskett Middle School 8th grade students under the supervision of Kevin Gibaldi, 8th Grade Assistant Principal, and Andrew Johnson, Social Studies Teacher, and additional staff members as needed. They will depart on May 15, 2013 and return on May 17, 2013. Transportation will be provided by Cleveland Southeastern Trails. Ayes: Nays:

The proposed Bedford Board of Education Policy Manual as prepared by the Ohio School Boards Association was read for the first time. Board Action 2013-028 Motion by Mr. Tench, seconded by Mr. Stevens to accept the following resignations from certificated staff members for the purpose of retirement effective at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. They will be honored at the June Board of Education meeting.

Stipend for Beth Gillmor to serve as the Program Coordinator for the After School Program at Heskett Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year beginning Monday, March 11 through Thursday, April 25, 2013. Mrs. Gillmor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the program and serve as the liaison between school and home for students and staff. Compensation will be $400.00. Stipends for the following certificated staff members who will work in the After School Tutoring Program at Heskett Middle School from March 11 through April 25, 2013, from 2:45 – 4:15 p.m. (1.5 hours) Monday through Thursday. Compensation will be $21.73, per teacher, per the Master Agreement, not to exceed 6 hours per week. Supplemental resignations and recommendations for the 2012-2013 school year. (Exhibit A-1) and approval of baseball and softball teams at Heskett Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year, and girls varsity soccer team at Bedford High School for the 2013-2014 school year, and approval of a stipend for a new club that is extracurricular as well as academic in that it yields a ¼ hour credit for the content. The club is called the Pop-Culture Literature Club (Pilot). It combines reading literature with video/film production which involves writing screen plays from the literature. It is Category E and Darren Pocek will be the club instructor not to exceed $995.20. The goals and objectives are found on Exhibit A-2. and approval of an Agreement with Re-Education Services, Inc. for the admission of a special education student attending for the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year.
