MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE BEDFORD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HELD MAY 23, 2013 AT COLUMBUS INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM AT 6:00 P.M. The audio recording of this Board of Education meeting is hereby incorporated into the official minutes. A Presentation of the 2013 Woodrow W. Shipley Award to made to Felice Willis, Director of Secondary Education by Terry Lipford, Principal at Central Primary School, and Kim Rado, Fifth Grade Teacher at Carylwood Intermediate School; co-recipients of the 2012 award. A presentation of a $1,000 check was made to Nora Beach and Glendale Primary School for having the highest percentage of participants complete the Bedford Schools Foundation Run/Walk in April. A presentation was made by Nora Beach, Principal, highlighting programs at Glendale Primary School. A presentation was made by Virginia Golden, Principal, highlighting programs at Heskett Intermediate School. Approval of a Supplemental Contract for Shawn Nichols of Bedford High School for the 2013-2014 school year July 4th Parade. Compensation is per the Master Agreement. Approval of the following certificated teachers and substitute teachers who will work in the Summer School program at Bedford High School from June 19, 2013 through July 19, 2013. Compensation will be per the Master Agreement, per teacher/substitute/intern. They will work from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with the exception of the Program Coordinator who will work an additional 13.5 hours due to preparation and orientation of staff members. These teachers will work on an as needed basis. Alison Cox – English John David Burnside (1/2 time) – Math Robert Fleming – Program Coordinator/Health Arrione Gilmore – Science Patrick Griffis – Social Studies Juliana Nahra – Language Arts Edward Uhlir – Math Christopher Hershberger (1/2 time) Math Jamie Cole – Social Studies and Language Arts Audrey Richardson – Science Crystal Brooks – Substitute Tricia Mencin – Substitute Robert Kozenko – Substitute and Administrative Intern Kevin Vargas – Substitute and Administrative Intern Approval of a 1.5 hour orientation meeting prior to the first day of summer school for the teachers/substitutes/interns named above at an hourly rate of $21.73 per the Master Agreement. Approval of Jennifer Breckel, Leah Hollingsworth and Alison Duiker to provide tutoring for students needing Extended Year Services (EYS) over the summer, per their IEP’s. Compensation for Jennifer will be per the Master Agreement, not to exceed 40 hours, compensation for Leah will be per the Master Agreement, not to exceed 30 hours and compensation for Alison will be per the Master Agreement, not to exceed 25.
