National Apprenticeship Week 2021 will take place from 8 to 14 February 2021. The annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships will shine a light on the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices across the country. The Week will also recognise how employers of all sizes have stepped up to the challenge during this unprecedented time. Apprenticeships and Skills Minister, Gillian Keegan has announced the annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, will showcase how apprenticeships have helped employers and people of all ages and backgrounds. Employers are encouraged to promote the great work of their apprentices, whilst highlighting the many benefits apprenticeships bring to their business. Apprentices, at all stages of their learning will also be celebrated over the course of National Apprenticeship Week 2021. Bringing together apprenticeship ambassadors, MPs, training providers, apprentices, parents and employers, National Apprenticeship Week highlights the work being done across the whole apprenticeship community to promote apprenticeships and their impact. Apprenticeships Manager, David Raine said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a great opportunity to highlight the amazing opportunities that an apprenticeship brings to Poundland & Dealz, our apprentices and the economy.” “It has been fantastic to see how Poundland & Dealz have gone above and beyond to ensure apprentices can continue their studies during this unprecedented time.” “The week is also an opportunity to shine a light on how apprentices of all ages and backgrounds are helping to transform Poundland & Dealz across the country. “As a former apprentice I know what a life changing experience it can be, and I’m looking forward to being part of National Apprenticeship Week 2021 and seeing first-hand the inspiring ways apprentices and Poundland & Dealz continue to deliver.” NAW2021 and National Apprenticeship Week will trend on social media on launch day, with #NAW2021, #BuildTheFuture and #Proudland throughout the week, so join in a share your content or drop us a like.

Well done to our class of 2020! Whilst we can’t celebrate in style just yet, it is a proud day for Poundland to see the graduation of the 2019/2020 Apprentices who have successfully completed their nationally accredited course and Retailer qualifications. A massive well done to: Nick Colley (1049) Matthew Roberts (2098) Abraham Parker (1436) Luke Dawson (200) Megan McKenzie (1102) Dan Sopoteanu (1140) All will be invited to a graduation ceremony once we are in a position to do so to celebrate their amazing achievement, pass rates and will be presented with their certificates of achievement. Since starting in 2019 last year the group have worked closely with their tutors from Lifetime Training and managers in Poundland – passing on their skills and experience and everyone has had great support from across the business.
David Raine, Apprenticeship Manager, commented, "A big well done to all the apprentices and a big thank you to their tutors & managers and Lifetime Training - who have coached and guided them through the course. "The apprentice scheme success is down to the great team effort and it’s very rewarding to see the next generation of skilled and safe retailers entering their careers with Poundland. " The programme is run in association with our apprentice training provider, Lifetime Training, and offers a professional framework to a nationally recognised qualification.

Colleague Recognition from Lifetime Training Ramona Schitea - Tooting High street - Retail Manager Level 4 She was transferred to me in September and has been working hard as she is at the end of her course. Considering the pressure some of these stores have been under with the festive period, she has always done best she could and even when she had to cancel, she would be quick to offer alternative dates, including before and after work hours. Marley Allock & Matea Brechelmacher Poundland Newcastle Upon Tyne – Clayton Street (1274) - Retail Team Leader Level 3
Both Matea and Marley work in the same store and have been working really hard towards their course, seeing the benefits and development in themselves. Both have committed and have really embraced the learning which they are then implementing in store with the rest of their team. They have both taken opportunities due to their course to involve team members in improving areas of work especially around development. Rachael Good – Poundland Witney (1912) Retail Team Leader Level 3 RT – Dev Patel Rachael has been engaged throughout and has committed to completing work and visits on time on top of managing their own workload effectively. Communication between Rachael and the trainer has been great.

Iva Findler – Poundland – Cannock Linkway Retail Park (1732) Retailer L2 Ida always completes the work set within her activities. She mainly works on the till within her role but has taken a keen interest in other areas to gain new knowledge, skills and behaviours She has also identified what she needs to be able to do to complete her apprenticeship and opening discussed with her manager. When Ida was enrolled onto programme, she wasn’t sure if it was the right thing for her or is, she would be able to succeed but with the support of her manager, she signed and has been able to complete every module so far.
