A Note from your Pastor

How Do You See Life? The other day I was having lunch at Charley’s Philly Steaks and as usual I ordered the Bacon 3 Cheesesteak. It is always interesting to watch as the food is cooked on the grill right in front of you as you wait your turn. One order after an order with usually at least two to three orders being cooked at the same time. This day a lady two orders behind me saw my bacon cooking and it was near her turkey being grilled. She got a little bit agitated and told the cook to ‘please keep the bacon away from her turkey”. I heard her and said to the cook….YES!! Please keep that turkey away from my BACON!!!”. Why ruin good bacon!!! Everyone in the line started to laugh. I don’t know why this lady didn’t like bacon. Maybe she didn’t like the taste? Maybe she was trying to eat healthy? What I do know is that what she didn’t want, I wanted. Sometimes this is how we are in our spiritual life. We want this and we want that but we don’t want to get anywhere near those things that God tells us to do. We do the easy things in our lives but the hard things that God asks us to do, we wait on them. This is another way of saying ‘No’ to God. 4

The Apostle John said these words: 1 John 5:3 (NLT) 3 Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. The word “commandments’ can mean ‘prescription’ so John is saying take your prescriptions because they bring healing for you! Obey the Lord because it is Life for you! It is beneficial to you but also remember when you let the Lord transform you, then it is beneficial to everyone else in your life. You, being created and transformed into the image of God can only bring goodness to those around you! Ephesians 4:2 (NLT) 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. James 4:10 (NLT) 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. Eat More Bacon!

In Christ, Pastor Bob

Community Lunch-October 27th 12pm

Please consider donating items to this ministry. Donations are collected year round and are packed in November to be sent to the Samaritan’s Purse. For the month of October we are collecting Hairbrushes, combs, Kleenex (individual packs), coloring books, fun pads and crayons.
