Organic Cattle Rearing in Bangladesh has enormous potential to uplift smallholder farmers. In a country where less than 60 percent of women are economically active, rural women like Chameli Begum, 45, face many challenges and prejudices. Lack of savings and �inancial exclusion, negative comments and skepticism from their communities and even their families. Results speak for themselves. Within a period of [1] year, Chameli is now a successful Sorbojoya; as a livestock entrepreneur has helped to [double] her family's income.
Chameli lives in Sadullapur, Gaibandha, with her husband and four children. Before joining the Sorbojoya Project she and her husband were not able to generate enough earnings from their vegetable farming activities. However, through the training, �inancial investment, and veterinary services received from Sorbojoya, she has been able to add cattle rearing to her farming activities, generating additional income and making more ef�icient use of her limited land resources. Chameli is now a fully-�ledged livestock entrepreneur, with a purpose-built animal shed now housing 4 cows, 6 goats, and dozens of chickens. Equipped with enhanced knowledge and experience, bolstered through the on-going support from Vets and quality control of�icers, Chameli can now look forward to a future without hunger and poverty. We are assuring every Sorbojoya’s �inancial inclusion in a structural way, by giving her very own Bank Account at UCB. Now she can easily track down her spending & earning and calculate pro�it.

Mudarabah Cattle Investment Plan Details Why Mudarabah Cattle Investment Plan
Mudarabah Cattle Investment Plan is a shariah based investment plan where you, as an individual, are welcome to utilize your idle money as an investment in the agro-based business managed by an ef�icient and experienced team under Watermark Livestock Management Company Limited. Your investment is not only secured through a written agreement but also ensures your contribution towards the reduction of poverty and women empowerment for the country.
How it works
Being experienced in the livestock management sector, we select the female farmers (‘Sorbojoya’) based on their needs, prior experience and provide them with the cattle after going through relevant training on cattle farming, farm management as well as �inancial management. We follow an integrated monitoring mechanism through which the cattle management is run by a professional team. Once your investment period gets matured, we return your principal and pre-agreed share of the pro�it to you.
Maturity Period for the Investment
The maturity period is 4 months for the short term plan. Our Cattle Farms are developed on a portfolio model, where the investor gets a pro�it portion based on the return of the overall portfolio of a sizeable number of cattle of each farm, not on speci�ic cattle. The forecasted return against your investment is around 20% annually. ***However, with the professional team that we have, this investment return might even get bigger. We’ll be happy to share this additional return with you as a bonus.
Since when this project has started
We started this project as a ‘pilot’ in 2018 with families in 2 villages under Gaibandha district. After the successful piloting, we expanded it to 50 families in 2019 in 8 villages and grew our initiative at a larger scale in as many as 22 villages under Gaibandha and Lalmonirhat districts. This year, we plan to expand our horizon in other villages and looking forward to getting you beside us.
Investors’ right to visit the Cattle Firm
We have strong policy and restrictions in terms of allowing outsiders inside our cattle farm area. However, you, being an investor, are always welcome to visit the cattle �irm physically upon con�irming your presence in advance through communicating with our vibrant Cattle Management Team.
