Some are only advertised on various social media platforms or other websites. Job seekers are not always there at the right moment to see these fleeting advertised vacancies or can’t afford to go search for jobs Online or buy the newspaper.

How To
GET PROMOTED By Stan Mack If your career development seems like it’s in slow motion, it might be time for a boost. Ask to be promoted to a position that challenges you and offers greater opportunities for self-advancement. You might not get the position you’re after now, but requesting it makes it clear you’re eager to do more. That might put you in front of the pack when the next round of promotion occurs. If that doesn’t seem likely, consider pursuing opportunities elsewhere.
example, moving to a management position might allow you to train others, which could be more cost-effective for your employer than you doing the job yourself. Meet with your supervisor to discuss your willingness to take on more responsibility - with a commensurate increase in pay, of course. If your supervisor refuses, offer to forgo the pay increase if that will secure you the promotion. If your supervisor again refuses, one of two things is going on: either you’re not as ready as you think you are or your employer is holding you back.
SELF-ASSESSMENT Take stock of your situation to determine whether you’re ready for a promotion. If increased responsibility and authority would help you be more valuable to your employer, chances are you’r ready. For

could contribute more given the chance. In these situations, making a lateral transfer to a different department or company might be your best option. You’ll likely have to start fresh in some respects. he has the qualifications, he might be able to land a supervisory job in another company. Even if the next company is smaller than his current employer, the boost in rank and perhaps pay will help him advance more quickly than staying in his dead-end job would. There’s no simple way to know when it’s time to leave for greener pastures. Generally, if you work hard and exceed expectations, you can expect to be promoted. When it’s clear that won’t happen, and the limiting reasons are beyond your control, explore new opportunities. Fortune favors the bold. Further, it’s normal to switch employers. It’s estimated that most individuals entering careers today will work for eight different employers throughout their life, so changing jobs to improve your lot won’t hurt your resume. w
