11th September 2020 Welcome Back Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back everybody! I have been looking forward to writing those three words for a long time! I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to all the new families that have joined us this academic year. The children have made a fantastic start and are clearly delighted to be back in school learning and seeing their friends. I have been amazed watching their positive attitudes coming into school and I feel very proud of all the children with the resilience, support for others, good humour and excitement for learning they have shown. Thank you for supporting the school this week with your kindness, patience and understanding whilst we slightly amend the measures we have put in place to keep everybody safe. Your positive comments on the gate and via email are much appreciated as is your observations for improvements which we always welcome. Please familiarise yourself with the ‘Reference Guide for Parents’ at the back of this newsletter. It is important that you read and understand the document to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep everyone safe and well. As with all the systems and procedures in school, we value your support and understanding. I hope you all manage to have a restful and relaxing weekend after the first full week in school. I know that the children will probably be quite tired! Mr Ford Headteacher

Entering and Leaving the School
5th January – Start of Spring term
The leadership team, along with all the staff, have worked very hard to put in place measures to keep everybody as safe as possible. These measures have been shared with you in the parent guidance document and the school’s risk assessment which can also be found on the school website. Thank you for reading these documents and for adhering to the direction and queuing signs when entering the school and the playground. Following these measures every day, especially following social distancing measuring outside the school gate and inside the school grounds, will help us to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all in the community.
15th January 2021 – Deadline for Primary School Admissions
We ask that you keep rigidly to the beginning and end of day timing arrangements so that we can maintain a safe, settled and speedy start and end to the day. Parents picking up at 3:10pm and 3:25pm must leave and re-enter the playground via Eagle Lane so as not to overcrowd and mix with other year groups in the playground. Update - From Monday parents are permitted to leave the playground and turn left down the pedestrian pathway back into Eagle Lane whilst following social distancing measuring. Thank you for your continued support with following these measures.

Year 1 Outside Area During the summer the Year 1 outside area has had a bit of a revamp. We have developed a designated space so that the children can continue to learn, explore and discover during the day. We have: 1. Installed new fencing 2. Installed artificial grass for the children to play on 3. Purchased outdoor building blocks 4. Purchased an outdoor water area 5. Purchased outdoor furniture for the children to have free access to materials Watch this space as the area develops and as new resources arrive. Miss Heard Assistant Headteacher Nursery’s First Week The fulltime children have enjoyed their first week in Nursery. We started the week harvesting fruits and vegetables in the allotment. The children have had lots of fun exploring all the areas both inside and outside and making new friends. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents for the way they have prepared their children. We have been so impressed with how quickly the children have settled in and how independent they are. We look forward to welcoming our part time children next week. Miss Talbott, Mrs Walker and Mrs Ali Nursery Team Reception’s First Week This week the reception team have been testing out their new classrooms and welcoming in some of the new children. Edible Playground News Have you seen the monsters growing in the Edible Playground? In the newsletter in June, we wrote an article on our Staff Pumpkin growing competition. I thought I would give you an update on the progress! If you have managed to have a walk thought the Edible Playground, you will see quite a few pumpkins of gigantic proportions! Miss Heard has two oranges beauties growing! She was growing a third but it had to be harvested early as it had grown through the school fencing! Mr O’Donoghue plied his pumpkin plant with his special ‘Turbo Juice’. We thought that he had fed it too much as it was very slow to grow however, after a late start, Mr O’Donoghue has managed to grow a whopper!
Woodbridge Open Evening Event Woodbridge High School Open Evening will be a virtual event which will take place om Thursday 8th October. All information related to the event will be on our school website: www.woodbridgehigh.co.uk On the day, parents will have a chance to see the school, meet students and staff. There will also be a chance for parents to ask questions during live sessions. Miss Heard Assistant Headteacher
Mr Ford and Mrs Hedges pumpkin plants have both produced good sized pumpkins, and one has even managed to grow on top of the arch outside the year 1 classrooms! The success story carries on with my lovely pumpkins which are rather large but not ripe yet. Unfortunately we haven’t had many success stories outside of the Edible Playground. Mrs Jenkins’ pumpkins started growing, but kept dropping off and Mrs Simmons’ grew up a tree but bore no fruit!
Secondary School Applications 2020 – DEADLINE 31ST OCTOBER
Nursery also didn’t managed to grow any pumpkins and they blame me for picking them a terrible spot in their garden. You may have also seen our enormous marrow, modelled here by Frank the sausage dog. Have any of you managed to grow pumpkins this year or any other fruit and vegetables? We would love to hear about your growing successes. Mrs Clifton

Thank you! Thank you for the kind messages that we have received since returning to school, they are greatly appreciated.
Dear Mr Ford, I just wanted to say what a lovely welcome it was this morning, arriving at school. Luca had a whirlwind of emotions about returning to school today, after not being in since March. There will be a lot of changes for a 5year old to deal with today and even though we had discussed these I know he was feeling anxious...so was I. But being greeted by helium balloons all along the entrance and all the staff smiling, really made such a difference. Thank you so much for all the little things that Snaresbrook Primary do, that make it such a caring school! Hope you and all the staff have a lovely day back. I’m sure you will all be looking forward to a hot drink at some point today... or maybe even something a bit stronger this evening!
Good morning I just wanted to send a message to say thank you to the staff for the welcome back this morning and the set up. It was so well organised and everything ran so smoothly and it was lovely to see all the teachers again. Also, the balloons were a lovely touch! Hope everyone has a great first day back.
We just wanted to say thanks to all the staff for their amazing work today. The huge amount of care and preparation was very clear to us. You organised the arrival and departure really well. But what was most impressive, as ever, was your care and thought for our children, with a truly child-centred approach (loved the balloons!). We have two very happy children who really enjoyed their return to school. That is thanks to you all and to the warm and positive environment you create. Thanks to Mrs Hedges for her help at pick up. And thanks to Miss Bailey for her lovely message this afternoon. Such thoughtfulness and care is really appreciated. Thanks again. We are looking forward to next week.
