Clergy Moves Fr Kevin Dow is due to start training at the Royal Military Academy (Sandhurst), with a view to becoming an army chaplain in the Bishopric to the Forces. On your behalf, let me wish Fr Kevin a safe and fulfilling ministry to our nation’s armed services’ personnel. He will be replaced in Holy Trinity Parish (Dunfermline, Rosyth and Inverkeithing) by Fr Joshua Kauras, of Bauchi Diocese, Nigeria, presently in Stirling, who will serve as Administrator of the parish. To familiarise himself with the area, Fr Joshua will move to Dunfermline on Saturday 20 March 2021, but the two appointments will become effective on Saturday 10 April 2021. Please email items to be included in the Newsletter to [email protected] by 12 noon on Wednesday.

Fr James Cadman We do recall that the Archbishop temporarily assigned Fr James in our Parish for a period of three months beginning from December 2020. Having successfully completed this period, the Archbishop is more than happy to appoint Fr James Cadman as Assistant Priest in our parish. His appointment takes effect as from the 20th of March 2020. Fr James will be resident in St Margaret’s and serve the three churches following our yet-to-be released pastoral schedule. Please support him to give of his best for the good of the parish. We are happy for him, and happy to have him – our gain! Fr Robert
The Reopening of Churches for Public Worship Places of worship are to re-open to the public on Friday 26 March, assuming no deterioration in the situation with the virus between now and then. The maximum attendance will be 50 for those churches that can accommodate two metre physical distancing (smaller churches may have reduced capacity) In St Mary’s we are working on the Mass Schedule for all 3 Churches from 26th March and over the Easter period. Further details, including booking arrangements will be included in next Sunday’s Newsletter. Meantime in St Mary’s, Mass is livestreamed each weekday morning at 10am and the Saturday evening vigil at 6pm and 11am on Sunday morning. Search for St Mary’s Catholic Parish on YouTube. If you wish to go to confession, please contact the priests and make an appointment. Last Rites - Emergency callouts: the arrangements will vary between different hospitals and care homes. Please follow all the safety protocols provided by them. If the person is at home, please contact the Parish.
Stations of the Cross There will be Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent (beginning from 19th Feb) at 7:00pm in St Mary’s Church. It will be a live event on our YouTube channel (Search YouTube for St Mary’s Catholic Church Stirling https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvGpDF7rOVU). So, join in and let us pray together following the footsteps of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

In addition, if you are a UK Tax Payer you can boost your contribution via Gift Aid which means the Parish can claim an extra 25% of your contribution at no extra cost to you!
Please email items to be included in the Newsletter to [email protected] by 12 noon on Wednesday.
www.stirlingstmarys.org 4th Sunday of Lent, 14th March 2021 Both the Standing Order and Gift Forms are available from the Parish Office – these can be posted or emailed to you and will also be posted on our Parish Facebook page.

SCIAF “WEE BOX” Lenten Appeal Lent has started but things have to be a little different for the SCIAF Wee Box this year. The focus for the appeal is South Sudan, helping children with disabilities especially in accessing education. The country has seen frequent conflict, many people displaced and in fear and despair. It is now one of the poorest, most fragile states. Coronavirus has only made poverty worse. Vaida’s story is featured in the WEE BOX pack. From the age of 14 she lost the use of her legs and could not get the healthcare needed. SCIAF’s partner in South Sudan provided health care and now Viada can walk with crutches and has a tricycle to enable her to get to school. Education will be the way out of poverty. How to help SCIAF The WEE BOX is available to fill as usual. They will be handed out in the churches just as soon as restrictions allow. You can also request a box from SCIAF. In the meantime, you might want to consider making your own collection at home. SCIAF website has information so you can easily send your contribution directly to SCIAF. Or you can even set up Just Giving page so friends and family can donate too. If you decide to fill your WEE BOX at home, they will be collected before the deadline in May. SCIAF has organised UK Match Aid again this year which means each pound you give is matched by the UK Government. Your Donation makes twice the difference! More information about Viada’s story, prayers and activities you can participate in are found on SCIAF’s website. John Massey, SCIAF Parish Contact. SCIAF APPEAL. SCIAF SUNDAY. On this SCIAF Sunday please pray for women and girls around the world. Today, we especially think of Vaida and her mother Angelina who feature on this year’s SCIAF WEE BOX. Without your help these children and their families will struggle to survive at all. Please give what you can to the SCIAF collection today.
