The Four-Way Test Of the things we think, say or do. First

Is it the TRUTH?

Second

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Third

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Fourth

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Object of Rotary The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: First - The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

Second - High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Third - The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;

Fourth - The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,

Good evening to all Transforming Rotarians and Guests, Today in the history of Cebu, “On October 12, 1870, Birth in Cebu, of Leoncio Avila (1870- 1911), editor of Ang Suga, composer and playwright.”- Dr. Resil Mojares

Pres. Jensen Racho R.Y. 2020-2021

Welcome everyone to our weekly meeting. In Rotary, October is Economic and Community Development Month. Rotary supports investments in people to create measurable and enduring economic improvement in their lives and communities. The Rotary Foundation enables Rotarians to invest in people by creating sustainable, measurable and long-term economic improvements in their communities and livelihoods by: 1. Building the capacity of entrepreneurs, community leaders, local organizations, and community networks to support

economic development in impoverished communities; 2. Developing opportunities for productive work; 3. Reducing poverty in under-served communities, and 4. Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to economic and community development. According to the United Nations, global unemployment increased from 170 million people in 2017 to nearly 202 million in 2019, about 75 million of whom were young women and young men. This month is a great opportunity to leverage our vocational skills to help meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 8: promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for all. On the other hand, there were 2 Barangays in Mandaue City that were affected by fire last Friday. As Transforming Rotarians, let us make a fire-resilient community in Sitios of a Barangay that are vulnerable to disaster by bringing-in the Fire Brigade to the Sitios. The non-Rotarians or the Sitio Leaders of the Rotary Community Corps of Sitio Mahusay Subangdaku, Mandaue City will help us realize this concept of PDG Anton Florendo. In line with this, please join us on October 16, 2020 at Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City as we hand-over the 15 sets of Fire Extinguishers to the Sitio Leaders of Mahusay as we are creating a Fire Brigade in the Sitio as first line of defense in case of fire. My appreciation and thanks to all our donors for making this noble project of the Club possible. Other information will be posted by Secretary John in our RCCPC Viber Group. Tonight, we have invited District Secretary Cary Beatisula to give us the overview of the Rotary Club Central. An open forum will follow after the presentation. Thank you and hope to see you again in the next Monday Meeting!

RCCPC Brief History In the beginning were five men and one vision… In a historic series of preparative meetings in May 1985, Felipe Casing, Antonio Elumir, Manny Granada, Jacinto Jamero and Rey Sanggalang envisioned the Port Center of Cebu as a vantage ground from where a band of noble men shall rise by the name of Rotary, in a game of service to humanity. What followed was a marathon dash in establishing a Rotary Club in the Cebu Port District to obtain a charter from then District 3860 Governor Jose “Joe” Lardizabal whose term was to conclude very soon. On the forefront was Pepe Casing, a Cebu Fuente Rotarian. It was in the special day of June 6, 1985 when a charter was granted to a club that was christened a most befitting name: The “ROTARY CLUB OF CEBU PORT CENTER”. The newfound organization that was once a nucleus of five visionaries became a club of 34 gentlemen who convened charter members in the middle of June 1985 to bear witness to the first set of officers. Antonio “Jun” Elumir, who was then the Phil. Ports Authority Officer, was the Charter President. With him at the helm was Manuel “Manny” Granada, the charter vicepresident, Jacinto “Boy” Jamero and “Rey” Sanggalang were the charter secretary and charter treasurer, respectively. These gentlemen who were the prime movers for the organization of our club were equally accorded those distinct and rare positions which can only happen once in a history of a club. Pepe Casing was honored with the venerable title of “Godfather”. @rccportcentre
