Omnia is a large and modern provider of education – an educational institution where life-long learning is an inspiring experience. Omnia’s task is to advance citizens’ inclusion, skills and well-being as well as the vitality of the region’s municipalities, communities and enterprises. We offer vocational and general upper secondary education, youth workshops and liberal adult education for tens of thousands of young people and adults. Omnia is located in the Helsinki Metropolitan area. The Helsinki Metropolitan area includes the nearby cities of Vantaa and Espoo and it is the largest urban concentration in Finland, with a population in the region of one million.
OMNIA DUAL CAREER PROGRAMME Student athletes in Omnia have multiple ways to combine their studies and their career as an athlete. The dual career programme provides plenty of tools to reach individual goals both in sports and in life in general. In the dual career programme, athletes get study points when they practice or compete in their sport. This opportunity is included in all our degrees. Omnia is a member of Helsinki Metropolitan Sport Academy (URHEA). Our athletes are entitled to use URHEA services in Helsinki Metropolitan area. Ministery of Education and Culture has granted Omnia special task as a sport educational institute.
SPORTS AND EDUCATION IN OMNIA It is important that the athletes’ wellbeing is guaranteed in their daily challenges. That includes training and competition in sports as well as travelling. In their studies it includes personal advice, guidance and counseling. Individual guidance on nutrition, time management, recovery and mental training is also provided. All Omnia’s student athletes have their own teacher, who is responsible for the coaching in both studies and in sports. The teacher acts as a coordinator in student athlete’s daily routines and in communication between coaches, parents, teachers and athletes. An individual development plan is designed to serve everyone in the best possible way. MOTORSPORTS IN OMNIA – A UNIQUE WAY TO REACH A CAREER IN RACE DRIVING Omnia’s Motorsport dual career concept is both new and unique. The qualification has been developed in cooperation with Finnish Motorsport Association, and it provides an opportunity to pursue a career as a race driver or as a professional motorsport mechanic.
