OPTIMAL INTERNET EXPLORER BROWSER SETTINGS There are several Internet Explorer settings we recommend you check in order to insure optimal performance from your Redtail CRM and/or Imaging subscriptions . These changes can be divided into three categories: 1. Pop-up Blocker Settings 2. Trusted Sites Settings 3. Temporary Internet Files Settings Here we’ll walk you through making the appropr iate changes in each of these areas.
Pop-up Blocker Settings To insure that you can open up Reports, Exports, Pop-Up Windows and Mail Merges from within Redtail, there are a couple of settings you should check within your Internet Explorer browser. First, take a look at your Pop-up Blocker settings from your browser’s Tools Menu. It should be set to allow Pop-ups. In the example to the right, if your settings look like this when you go to Tools / Pop-up Blocker, you should click where it says “Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.”
After you have done so, your settings should look like the example to the right:
In other words, you want your Pop-up Blocker settings to say “Turn On Pop-Up Blocker” because this means that your browser is currently allowing Pop -ups rather than blocking them.
Trusted Sites You should next check your Trusted Sites settings. You will again go to the Tools menu in your browser but this time click on Internet Options.
In the resulting dialogue box, click on the Security tab.
Then, click on the Trusted sites icon and the Sites button.
You will then see a new dialogue box that looks like the one to the right:
In the box headed “Add this Web site to the zone,” you should see the following website address: https://www.redtailtechnology.com . Click on the Add button to the right of this address. It’s probably a good idea to go ahead and type in the following address to add as well: redtailtechnology.com. Then click Close to save these settings. This will close the Trusted Sites dialogue box but you should still see your Internet Options dialogue box. Again, on the Security tab, look in the bottom section headed “Security level for this zone” to see if you see a slider for adjusting your level of Security between High, Medium and Low:
If you see the slider, position it to Low. This setting only applies to websites which you have indicated are trusted sites. If the slider is not displaying, click on the Default Level button. You should then see your slider and be able to move it into the Low position. After moving the slider to the Low position, click the Apply button and then the OK button to save your Trusted Sites settings.
Temporary Internet Files Settings You should next look at the settings for your Temporary Internet Files. You will again go to the Tools menu in your browser and click on Internet Options. From the General tab, click on the Settings button in the Browsing history section.
You’ll then see the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialogue box. Make sure that under “Check for newer versions of stored pages” you check off “Every time I visit the webpage.” Also, in the “Disk space to use” dropdown menu, we recommend that you choose one of the lower settings (8 – 50). After making any necessary changes, click OK.
Finally, we recommend that you go to the Advanced Tab on your Tools / Internet Options dialogue box and scroll down to the Security section. Place a check next to “Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.” Then click Apply and OK.
