PETER KING
Peter King was born in Glasgow in 1953. He studied art, specialising in drawing and painting, at the Glasgow Art School under the tutelage of David Donaldson RSA and Duncan Shanks RSA, specialising in drawing and painting.
Peter King taught Art and Design in Scottish schools for over thirty years and was Principal Teacher in Lanarkshire for over twenty years. He also holds a senior marker's position with S.Q.A. In 2010 he retired from teaching to focus on painting professionally.
Peter exhibits regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Glasgow Institute and Thompson's Galleries in London. His work is represented in collections across the UK, Europe and North America and Japan.
The Sunday Times Magazine (April Edition 2000) featured his painting in an article on contemporary British Landscape Painting. In 2010 Peter was awarded the coveted House for an Art Lover Award by the RGI. The light, colour and weathered landscape of Kintyre, The Clyde Valley and the vast panorama of land and sky dominated by Tinto Hill and the Scottish Borders are a constant source of ideas and inspiration, along with the majesty of the Western Isles. Peter has developed his paintings from a range of motifs, which he constantly returns to and reinterprets, focusing on aspects of changing moods of light, weather and seasons. The sources of his ideas are the seasonal effects of nature on the surrounding environment. Colour and the tactile qualities of paint are essential to his painting style; the marks, free paint and the textured shapes become field, wood and sky.

PETER WILEMAN FROI RSMA FRSA
Peter Wileman was born in Middlesex in 1946. He has over the years become one of the UK’s leading landscape painters. Peter is the former President and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, a Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He has produced many books on his technique of painting with light where he demonstrates how to create atmospheric oil landscapes with stunning effects. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Frank Herring Award in 2000, the Cornelissen & Son Award in 2003, the Clerc Fowle gold medal in 2006, the DAS Prize in 2007, the Charles Pears Award in 2010, the Stanley Grimm Prize in 2010 and the Dartington Crystal Chalice in 2012. His work can be found in numerous private and public collections in the UK and abroad. Peter works in varying degrees of abstraction. His mastery of technique and handling of paint allow him to capture the ever changing effects of light and atmosphere. These paintings are bold, vigorous and full of drama.
“I have tried to express myself with painting in many different forms, mediums and styles over the years. My path has lead me inexorably, like so many others before me, to try and capture that elusive quality of light, that only a shimmering sunset, dawn of a new day, dazzling sparkle of reflection off both sea and river presents to one who is prepared to both look and see".
