Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City was founded on 27 January 1995 by government decree 16/CP on the merging of prestigious universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

ABOUT UEL University of Economics and Law (UEL), a member of Vietnamese National University - HCM City, was founded on the decision of Prime Minister on March 24th, 2010. Throughout the stage of establishment and development, UEL has constantly enhanced the quality of training, scientific research and other activities with the aim of being one of research oriented universities, training high quality human resources in the fields of Economics, Management, Business Administration and Law. Up to now, UEL has established cooperative relationships with over 15 Universities and research institutes, a system between strategic domestic partnerships and over 10 economics groups, enterprise associations and top banks in Vietnam such as National Oil and Gas Group, Techcombank, Sacombank, Samsungvina, Lotus Group JSC, etc..

ABOUT EFFI Our Mission

Introduction The English Club - EFFI (English for Fun and Innovation) was founded in 2003, based on the demand of students on practicing and improving English skills. With all the passion, we decided to establish The English Club - EFFI with the consent of Union of Students of University of Economics and Law. The club is a group of UEL students who share the same passion in learning English and organizing events that related to English. Having the mission of conducting programs for students not only from UEL but also other Universities in Ho Chi Minh City, EFFI Club has helped them improve their English skills and apply English into real working environment. Up to now, EFFI has passed through 13 years working in the field, and we have never ceased to maintain the image of a club that is run for the benefits of students.

Creating the environment for students to improve their skills in English such as speaking, listening, debating and applying English into real working environment.

Providing opportunities for students to take part in various contests in order to discover their hidden abilities and raise their confidence in using English.

Holding events that give students chances to meet more friends, build relationships and have fun after stressful studying hours.

Our Achievements For many years, EFFI has made every effort to organize a lot of highquality programs. With plenty of English contests, we have helped students expand their vision in various fields, ranging from English marketing to English in start-up, which is both interesting and useful.

Master E - 2016

Dentsu Fieldtrip Suntory Pepsico Fieldtrip Besides, we create an amazing opportunity for students to have practical experience and get to know more about the real working environment in international enterprises and companies as well as give students a full view of using English as the main language during working hours.

In addition, by associating with UEL’s International Affairs Office, we have organized many cultural exchange programs with students from Netherland, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea and so on.

Cultural exchange with Korean students English Zone Moreover, with the aim of motivating and helping students improve their English skills, we build the series of English Zone programs. Up to now, English Zone has had 7 subjects. This is a big chance for students to enhance speaking skills, make new friends as well as relax after long-grueling working hours.

MASTER-E 2017 Introduction Master-E is an English Eloquence Contest hosted annually by The English Club – EFFI for students at all universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Started in 2013 with the theme “Brand Identity”, the competition was highly appreciated as a useful academic playground which attracted hundreds of excellent contestants. This has served as the stepping stone to the phenomenal success of Master-E 2016 and the growing popularity of the competition itself among students from other universities in the past years. Throughout its development, Master-E has received generous support from MC IELTS and IBM Institute as financial sponsors, besides EBIV and YBOX as major media sponsors.

Following the resounding success of the Master – E contest in previous years. In 2017, EFFI - The English Club desires to:

Assert the Master–E position as a prestigious contest for students in South East Area of Vietnam.

Widespread the reputation of the Sponsors and EFFI via the club power in social media with rapidly increasing partners.

4 Awaken students’ passion for English through teamwork and presentation skills with a great deal of support.

Establish an annual program meeting the students’ demand for high-quality structures and content.

3 Create a friendly English community for students to develop their linguistic skills.

6 Strengthen and reinforce the relationships with EFFI’s co-operators and sponsors in every successful program.

• Enhance the pride and love for natural landscapes. • Learn how to prospect and protect environment in right ways.

Content

• Get permission from Union of Youth of UEL • Design and print out the media publications.

Round 1: Pack & Go! Each participant has to pass an online test with 40 multiple-choice questions related to tourism comprehension. A limited number of candidates with the highest score will be chosen to the 2nd round.

Round 2: Rough Oceans Candidates are divided into 8 teams of 3. Part 2.1: Spelling bee Each team will get a random pack of vocabularies. They have to listen to the pronunciation, definitions or examples if necessary and then spell words that they heard. Part 2.2: Answering quizes In part 2.1 and 2.2, there are four antagonistic contests each round, two teams per time and the team knowing the answer will ring the bell to answer. 6 teams that get the highest scores will be chosen to compete in Part 2.3. Part 2.3: Presentation Each team will be provided a picture related to travelling issues and have 3 minutes to deliberate and then present their point of view about that picture. After that, team members have to answer the questions given by the judges. 4 teams with the highest scores will come to Round 3.

Round 3: Clear Sky, Clear Water Part 3.1: Each selected team will give a presentation (in creative forms such as singing, dancing, etc.) presenting a selected country’s culture. Part 3.2: Each team will be provided with a pack of words. They have to use these words to make as many meaningful words as possible. Part 3.3: Four teams are divided into 2 pairs to debate on a given topic. The results of the debate will be decided by the judges.
