Social Media During COVID ’19: Constructive or Destructive Ms. Deavrshi Modi Teaching Assistant, KSSBM

The world is going through challenge of extensive spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus. This Pandemic puts extreme pressure on healthcare, economic, and social structures. During this crisis, lack of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness would put people and health care staff at risk. The confusion is how to pass the Correct information of current disease statistics and its prevention to the general population at a rate correct to or better than the spreading Pandemic. At the same time, a large amount of healththreatening misinformation is spreading at a faster than the disease itself. Hence, delivering fast, accurate and reliable information addressing problems of infection control is, therefore, of major concern. However, if used properly and prudently, social media serves as a powerful tool for changing people's behaviour and to promote the well-being of individual and public health. During sudden outbreaks, the people needs access to timely and reliable information about the disease symptoms, its prevention and many more things. Today, social media is often seen as rapid and important platforms for searching, sharing, and distributing health information among the general population.

Also, social media serves to provide an important informal and formal source of data to identify health information that has not been reported to medical officers or health departments and to uncover or share perspectives on any life-threatening health-related issues. But this channel of miscommunicating knowledge sometimes mixed with discrimination, misleading reports and conspiracy theories related to the origin of the virus, its spread and mass buying of face masks, all closely connected to the modern 21st century “info-media” social media networks. Despite the importance of rapid access to information in these critical situations, poor comprehension or inaccurate or false information in the format of rumours or unreliable news can lead to misunderstanding in the community, which makes the situation worse.

In the present graph also, we can see the way people are spending their free time during the lockdown period on social media activities. While the Internet is seen as an effective source for obtaining health information, it can be used as a means of misinformation. A lack of accuracy and reliability is the major drawback of health information found on social media or on other online sources. Medical or health-related information posted on social media sites are often anonymous in nature. Moreover, these kinds of health information are always incomplete, informal, and without references. The WHO, therefore, addressed the Internet provider company for assigned names and numbers to create a new domain suffix that can be used only for validated information on health. So that if people search for any particular disease or health-related topic, then the search engines should give priority to only those domain addresses which provide reliable results and truthful facts.

CONCLUSION “A significant amount of powerfully dangerous misinformation has been generated and spread about the COVID-19 pandemic through the social media platforms like twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp etc. This misleading news consists of different aspects of the pandemic, which is capable of threatening public safety, which again leads to the crisis management. ‘Fake News ‘about COVID-19 is disseminated more faster than the virus, and it appears that world is battling against two faces of the virus and the associated misinformation simultaneously. There are many things comes in to observations which will provide blueprint for the upcoming pandemics and like crisis, but the near future requires sustainable and new standards of management for social media.

Article on COVID ’19 Online Teaching

Changes in Life

Ms. Purvi Pandya

Ms. Vanshree Shukla

Teaching Assistant, KSSBM

Teaching Assistant, KSSBM

As we all are aware that WHO has declared COVID 19 as the pandemic and issued various guidelines to take precautions against the same. In continuation with the same, Central Government has also issued various orders and guidelines to be followed by the State Government. Various steps are taken to prevent the spread of COVID – 19 (Novel Corona Virus).

Moreover, Students are being encouraged to attend classes via online module using SWAYAM, e-PG Pathshala, MOOCs, IUCs, UGC YouTube channels, INFLIBNET and CEC portals as well as digital platforms.

I don’t know when and how this pandemic will end but I believe that phenomenon things do happen.

Presently, we can’t ignore the pandemic situation, and along with the same, the educational institutions have to continuously explore new ways for digital teaching-learning platforms.

Due to this pandemic situation, all the Universities and Colleges are closed and teaching activities are suspended since March 2020. But the educational institutions have continued to impart education through various online modes where gathering of students is not required. The face-to-face lectures are replaced with the online learning using various apps.

These web-based online platforms are the best way to get the appropriate knowledge without going anywhere. The teachers play a very important role here. They have to do more in order to engage and motivate students. They have to increase the interest of students and involve them in discussions while delivering their lecture. Specific strategies should be planned by the teacher to involve students in the educational activities and learning process.

I learned how to say thank you even when I wasn’t feeling grateful. There have been so many days in the past few months when all I wanted to do was complain. Endless things weren’t working in my life. Holiday plans cancelled which was quite disturbing! Sudden fear and panic everywhere. Riots and storms and stressful summer plans. And it was exactly this confluence of challenging external circumstances that led me to make a radical, internal shift within. Though our PM Shri Narendra Modi’s kind words motivated us at some extend.

In continuation with the same, resources have been mobilised through various applications like Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype, etc. to impart education online. Universities and Colleges are providing study material to the students by various means using this platform. They can also organise online exams, quiz, can give assignments through various apps.

To conclude, the COVID 19 has adversely affected all the sectors including education sector of India and abroad. But, the institutions, faculties and students can turn this curse into a blessing and be creative in whatever ways they can in the best interest of the mankind. We hope for the best in future.

Here are three lessons that I have learned from the past year.

If I started complaining I’d never stop, so I learned I could say Thank You even during the times I felt frustrated and disappointed. I knew that if I started complaining I’d never stop, so I learned I could say Thank You even during the times I felt frustrated and disappointed.

Even during the hardest of times there was still so much that I could authentically be grateful for. I woke up and said thank You, God, for air, for light, for the ability to see and hear and smell. Thank You for this healthy day. For giving me the chance to begin again. And even if it was for just a few moments a day, I felt so grateful for the tiniest details I noticed around me. I learned that if something is important, do it now. We all had so many plans and events that we couldn’t have fathomed being cancelled when 2020 began. We really have no idea when our life’s rollercoaster will change it’s position so it’s important that don’t wait for exact ‘right time’ to complete your wishes because little things do matter a lot! To conclude, I would to say that we have to learn accept challenges and changes. As George Barnard Shaw says,

“Progress is impossible without change their minds cannot change anything.” 6

A Gentle Complaint By Mr. Vicky Nagar Teaching Assistant, MBA, MSc (CA & IT) K S School of Business Management

Dear Mind, 2nd Floor, Human Body, Nature’s Creation Greetings, I don’t know how to put this in front of you, as “Rationality” is the only thing that you understand. However, now it’s a need of an hour to bring your attention to the increasingly important question – “What do you really want?” For the past few days so many complaints have been received from the members of ground floor and first floor. To name a few, three days back, I had word with Mr. Stomach, he said you all the time are so much in hurry that you don’t allow at least 30 minutes in order to eat and to digest the wholesome food and hence, he can’t get enough nutrition to run the body smoothly. Yesterday, twin sisters from your floor only, were arguing that you send the orders even at 2:30 a.m. to complete the work, due to which they fill drowsiness even during the sunny day. Many times, you just want to satisfy pleasures due to which you procrastinate the important tasks, while sometimes you become dictator for the strict discipline, especially when the deadlines are near. Thus, being the secretary of this human body, I herby request you to consider emotions along with the logical reasoning. As your neighbor and beloved friend, I am really worried about your state as well. I know the WORK is important, still there is a life to live at the fullest. All the time materialistic success won’t serve the purpose. After all, what matters is the ultimate peace.

I am sure you would consider this gentle request in the positive way. Looking forward to your support. Yours Forever, Heart ♥ 17

A Brief on Case Study of Placement Satisfaction By Ms. Vrunda Ghelani Teaching Assistant & Placement officer [Msc (CA&IT)] K S School of Business Management

This paper was presented in International Conference on Research & Innovation in Science, Engineering and Technology – ICRISET ’20 Title: Case Study on post placement analysis for student satisfaction Placement is the high-ranking initiative of any institute. During the placement process there are major three parts 1) Training 2) Placement administration 3) Suitable Placement. After this process the key point is does the students are satisfied with their placements? With respect to IT-Jobs, the job satisfaction changes frequently. But when an institute place some student at a company, it is very important for the institute to analyze that: ? How many students are satisfied with their placements? ? Which Companies should get priority at on-campus, which companies should be invited for off-campus? ? Which companies are there who deals with mass-students? ? Which companies are there who deals with skills of students? ? What kind of training module do these companies are offering? ? What would be the lower and upper limit of the package offered by companies? ? How many companies should be invited for the placements in single session? These all parameters take place after the session of placement ends in the final year batch. These parameters can be common for wide streams but the result would be very-very different and very according to stream and market requirement. Thus it is required to perform this analysis after each session which can be conducted as post-placement analysis. This Paper represents the post-placement Analysis for K.S. School of business Management for MSc-CA & IT program, which is performed on the data-set of “Placemet-201920” using Correlation in python between ‘students rating for training at companies and Package offered by the companies. 18
