your library is your portrait
The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.
— Albert Einstein
Just as a piece of art is a reflection of its creator’s materials, personal experiences and dedication, so too is an organization’s success a reflection of the dedication and experiences of its members. How appropriate when the two intertwine as do the many opportunities made possible through the RINGLING COLLEGE LIBRARY ASSOCIATION and the students who benefit from them. Founded in 1931, Ringling College of Art and Design is located on a 35-acre residential campus, just north of downtown Sarasota. It has 1600 + students who come from 48 states and 31 countries, and who are passionate about their school. In additional to the College’s long-standing reputation for gifted students and teaching excellence, its new state-of-the-art Alfred R. Goldstein Library is cherished for its comprehensive collection of materials. It is also the envy of collegiate library professionals nationwide, as no other art college in the country has an organization as successful as the Ringling College Library Association supporting it.

— Laura Bush
In fact, the library’s story can only be told completely with the close and continuing support of Ringling College Library Association. Since 1975, the Association has dedicated itself solely to its mission to support the ongoing development of the College’s library and providing more than $2 million toward the construction of the new Alfred R. Goldstein Library. Today, this independent not-for-profit organization is one of the largest cumulative donors in the College’s 88 year history, having committed more than $11 million dollars, recently expanding its reach to support scholarship for deserving students. The Association serves as the principal catalyst for the educational growth of the college’s students, faculty, as well as the greater Sarasota community.
TOWN HALL Bringing influencers from the world stage to our stage
I’m a fan of TOWN HALL because it gives me a chance to see and hear some of the world’s most celebrated, dynamic and diverse individuals.
— TOWN HALL attendee
2020 Marks the 40th Anniversary installment of the TOWN HALL Lecture Series. Over the past 40 years 200 speakers have participated in TOWN HALL. Our presentations have included some of the most engaging, influential, entertaining and educational speakers in the world, which we welcomed to Sarasota to stimulate, inspire and inform EVERY season. In an area known for its arts and culture, TOWN HALL is among the many assets and known for producing presentations that are innovative, compelling and often “one and only” events that can’t be seen anywhere else. This rich history means our patrons have incredibly high expectations for each new season, and we do our best to bring in speakers who bring something unique and special to Sarasota. Many times our speakers are controversial, but we strive to bring speakers whose subject will cause you to think and maybe even get excited about the topic, whether pro or con. TOWN HALL helps us all embrace our experience in hearing what others think, whether we agree or not. We are honored to be in a community where we can come together at events like this and experience countless new perspectives. This is TOWN HALL!
