TOP SCENIC SPOT

LIBERTY BRIDGE

A waterfall in the heart of downtown, Falls Park on the Reedy holds a special place as the crown jewel of Greenville. Over the falls is the remarkable Liberty Bridge, a structure like no other in the United States. This 345-foot multi award winning bridge designed by multi award winning architect, Miguel Rosales, is curved instead of straight to give those who walk across it a theatrical view of the park and the Reedy River. Because of its beauty and majesty, it's not unusual to see proposals and bridal parties at any season!

HIKE AND BIKE

Swamp Rabbit Trail The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 22-mile multi-use (walking and bicycling) greenway that traverses along the Reedy River, an old railroad corridor and City parks to connect Travelers Rest with the City of Greenville, South Carolina. Opened in 2009, this trail has experienced continual growth and offers fun, non-motorized recreation and transportation opportunities.

South-to-north the current trail begins at Greenville Technical College, crosses the city of Greenville, proceeds through Falls Park and the campus of Furman University, and ends about a mile north of the Travelers Rest city limits. Gaining only 200 feet in the 10 miles between downtown Greenville and Travelers Rest, it can be biked by just about anyone and takes about an hour and 15 minutes to bike each way at a leisurely pace.

Lake Keowee is a very popular man - made reservoir created to serve the needs of a power utility (Duke Energy) as well as public recreational purposes. It is approximately 300 miles long with an average depth of 54ft, and a shoreline measured approximately 800ft above sea level. Lake Keowee has been touted as a boater's paradise having wide winding channels and 71 small islands, There is also the Jumping Rock where boaters gather to swim, float and kayak in this lake described as having pure cystal clear  water located less than an hour from Greenville. Lake Jocassee is bounded by several waterfalls creating an unmatched vision of mountain splendor. At 7,500 acres, Lake Jocassee manages to feel undiscovered despite its popularity. It is a gem perfect for boating, skiing, swimming, diving, and has numerous species of freshwater fish making it popular to serious anglers. Along with Lake Keowee, it provides electricity and recreation for much of the Upstate. There is very little development on its 75 miles of shoreline, and most of the surrounding land is also untouched by man. Lake Hartwell is a huge 56,000 acre lake and recreational wonderland that forms part of the border between South Carolina and Georgia. The lake is a popular recreation spot for fishermen due to the many varieties of fish like the striped and hybrid bass, largemouth, crappie, bream and catfish that swim in its smooth waters. Hartwell has also hosted multiple Bassmaster Classics. It is one of the most visited Corps of Engineers' projects in the USA and is named for Nancy Hart, a Revolutionary War figure and native of adjacent Georgia. Swimming, boating, bird watching, geocaching, hiking , you'll never run out of fun adventures in this favorite destination! -

Zip Codes: 29640, 29641, 29642 Minutes to Downtown Greenville: 20 Easley is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Like so many towns in South Carolina the completion of the railroad brought growth and in 1874 the town of Easley was established. The friendly downtown area includes specialty shops and restaurants. The town is located near numerous waterfalls, hiking trails and lakes. Living in Easley keeps you close to work and entertainment while living in a rural setting. Easley’s location makes it easy to go to Greenville and Anderson. The city has wonderful restaurants, shopping, events, and activities for everyone. The railroad transformed Easley into a thriving textile town. Up until 2013, the train hauled commodities like food products, textiles and automobile parts between the two Upstate communities. Local residents affectionately dubbed it the “Pickens Doodle” as it was unable to be turned around and had to run backward, resembling a doodlebug. Today, one of the city’s most popular attractions is the 7.5-mile Doodle Trail, a paved recreational path built along the route of the 19th-century railroad. The Blue Ridge Mountains, lovely lakes, and temperate weather of Easley provide visitors with several outdoor recreation options. The city also has many parks including S O U R C E S :
