Welcome This booklet was created as part of a portfolio required of UNISA students studying PYC3716 – Community Psychology: Working for change. The purpose of the booklet is to produce a useful resource guide of organisations that are working within our community across various sectors. This guide is not a platform for any advertisements or to promote commercial businesses. The hope is that you will not only find this guide interesting, but that you may be sparked to go on your own journey of discovery and perhaps find a way to get involved in your community in a meaningful way - be it through one of the listed organisations or finding your own initiative to bring about positive change. This booklet is by no means an extensive guide that covers all organisations. It is a sample of just some of the amazing organisations within our local community. Age-In-Action Founded in 1956 as “The South African Council for the Aged”, now known as Äge-In-Action”, is the body representing more than 2.7 million older people. The Organisation also has over 800 NGOs as members who provide vital services to more than 150 000 older persons in need of care.
