Double Bond Equivalent DBE or double bond equivalent or level of unsaturation is the number of unsaturations present in the organic molecule The term unsaturation means a double bond or a ring system
It helps to check the number of π bonds and/or cyclic rings For example, in benzene there are 3 double bonds and 1 ring, i.e., DBE = 4 Moreover a triple bond can be regarded as DBE = 2
Then the final structure of the given compound will be proposed with the help of IR spectra, 1H and 13C NMR spectra and mass spectra 8/12/2020
