The world environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet earth. It is a day that reminds everyone on the planet to get involved in environment friendly activities. From school children to community groups, companies and governments, all come together to pledge towards building a greener planet. Keeping this aim in view, children of Star Public School took the initiative and plantation drive was carried out. A lot of enthusiasm was seen in the kids who were involved in the drive. The event was conducted successfully with whole hearted participation and awareness for a greener World. In addition to this, EHS Department of Star Cement Ltd. Lumshnong, in collaboration with Star Public School had organized a Drawing Competition in Star Club. 80 students participated in the event and 6 best drawings were selected and the children were awarded with exciting prizes. GREENPLUS, an environment protection organization with collaboration with Star Public School, Lumshnong, Meghalaya had organized a week-long online programme on various events from 1st June to 5th June on the occasion of World Environment Day, 2022. 90 students from Star Public School participated in various events like poster making, photography, seed ball making, online lecture etc. The participants were awarded with certificates from GREENPLUS.

A Mega Plantation Programme cum Inter School Drawing Competition was organized by Department of CSR, Star Cement Ltd, Lumshnong, Meghalaya on the occasion of World Environment Day on 6th June 2022 at Brichyrnot Village. 14 students and Mr. Bijan Debnath from Star Public School participated in the drive. In the Inter School Quiz Competition on Environment and Current Affairs, Star Public School emerged as the winner team. Parth Yadav, Class X and Bappa Rabidas, Class VIII represented Star Public School in the quiz competition and received the Champion Trophy from the Headman of Brichyrnot village. The Government of India has adopted a vision for a „Drug Free India‟ (नशा मक् ु त भारत) which reiterates India‟s resolve to fight against the menace of drugs. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has launched an online e-pledge campaign named „Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs‟ through MyGov portal. The NCB had proposed “नशे से आज़ादी पखवाडा” from 12th to 26th June, 2022 at All India Level. The e-pledge „Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs‟ was taken by clicking the following link: https://pledge.mygov.in/fightagainstdrugabuse/ As many as 400 students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff members took the epledge against drugs and received the e-certificate.

World Wildlife Fund is a worldwide organization, committed to protect biodiversity and nature. It has been working in India since 1969 in the field of conservation and environment awareness and believes in the power of education and work with schools, educators & learners, on various environment related programs. One of the most successful and unique programme is Model Conference of Parties (MCoP) - a national level annual conference on biodiversity. The MCoP has been running successfully for the past two years in partnership with MoEFCC, NBA, CBD, UNEP, UNDP and IUCN-CEC. Two students from Star Public School viz., Bhanavi Pandey and Parth Yadav were interviewed and selected to represent Meghalaya as delegates for Model Conference of Parties. MCoP 3 was a weeklong event from 13th to 16th June to understand biodiversity, national priority areas, vision and goals of MCoP & accordingly to finalize the target and action plans. The grand finale of MCoP 3 will take place on 4th July. Mr. Bijan Debnath acted as the coordinator teacher and participated in the complete event.

A special workshop was organized on 8th June, 2022 by the office of Deputy Commissioner on various aspects of drug abuse for Nodal Teachers from all Secondary Schools of the East Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya. It was chaired by Shri. Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, DC, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. Following sessions were organized: 1. Legal aspects of drug abuse and markers/signs of drug abuse for early intervention By Additional SP. 2. Joint Action Plan and Counselling of Students – By Shri. T. Kyndiah, DCPO. 3. Types of drugs and social, economic and cognitive impact of drug abuse – By Smt. R. Patlong, Programme Manager, MCSWA. 4. Impact of drug abuse on physical body – By Dr. J. Nongtdu, Medical Officer, Incharge of OST. 5. Testimonies by Recovered people – By Shri. Sokilang Lamare. The objective of the workshop was to enable the teachers to identify the students at an early stage of drug abuse and help the students in accessing the help. The entire administration is committed to counter the menace of the drug abuse. Md. Julfikar Ahmed Chowdhury, PGT Computer Science was appointed as Nodal Teacher for this meeting from Star Public School.

The Bharat Scouts & Guides is a voluntary educational movement for young people without distinction of origin, race or creed. The purpose of the movement is to develop the character of the youth and selfless service to the country to become responsible citizen. The qualities inculcating through training are ability to adopt and acquire sense of responsibilities, leadership, development skills and management techniques. Training to the entrants is given through discussions, skill demonstration in camps and participation in various Community Development Programmes. Under the leadership of Ranger leader, Mrs. Laxmi Sarkar, the Scouts and Guides of Star Public School had taken out plantation drive in the school on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide since its inception in the year 2015. Yoga is an inevitable gift of India‟s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. The 8th International Day of Yoga, themed „Yoga for Humanity‟ was celebrated by Star Public School, Lumshnong, Meghalaya on 21st June 2022. A group of 20 selected students performed various yogic asanas and Surya Namaskar in the presence of a huge gathering. 300 students attended the yoga session conducted by the Yoga Instructor, Mrs. Laxmi Sarkar and coordinated by Mr. Bijan Debnath and Md Julfikar Ahmed Chowdhury. Mr. L. S. Lyngdoh, Jt. Director & DSEO, East Jaintia Hills visited the school and inspected the International Yoga Day program. 300 students from Class IV to Class XII participated in „Yoga Day Special Quiz‟ which was organized by Mindwars, Zee platform from 20th to 26th June, 2022.

As many as 240 students from 12 Higher Secondary Schools in the East Jaintia Hills District (Meghalaya) attended the Star Merit Scholarship Test conducted by the Department of CSR, Star Cement at Star Public School on 21st June, 2022. Students who took the Star Merit Scholarship Test would be provided scholarships worth Rs. 14,00,000. Those who score first 10 ranks would be provided Rs. 50,000 each, 11-30 rank holders would be provided Rs. 30,000 each and 31-50 rank holders would be provided Rs. 15,000 each. Scholarships provided are meant for one-time financial support designed to help students for their higher studies. Star Cement intents to take up scholarship test as CSR Education initiative to promote education among underprivileged students who would wish to go for higher education. The Scholarship test was conducted under the supervision of Mr. L. S. Lyngdoh, DSEO & Jt. Director.

Star Public School successfully submitted GSP Audit 2021-22. CSE congratulated SPS for all the efforts the school undertook in the completion and submission of the audit report. It was an enriching experience for the students as well as the rest of the school community. The school audit response report is a collation of the responses provided by the school to the audit questions, and the certificates have been generated for the participants. Furthermore, on 28th June a webinar was conducted by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) on „Domestic Hazardous Waste - An approach towards scientific collection, treatment and disposal in India‟ with the purpose to discuss the findings that have emerged from the study. Mr. Bijan Debnath attended the webinar which was meant for waste management practitioners, officials from Central and state urban departments and municipalities, urban and town planners, academicians, students, NGO representatives, CBOs, wastepicker‟s associations and others.

To make a better world, children must imbibe positive values and use Science for betterment of the world. Teachers as role model will need to imbibe human values in children through their own behaviour and make them good human beings. “Imbibing values in children” has become critical for educators. Based on this concept, a School Leadership Conclave was organised by eduExcellence in Shillong from 22-25 June 2022 under the leadership of Prof. Harish Chaudhry, Program Director from IIT Delhi. Dr. Rohit Joshi and Dr. Neelam Rani from IIM Shillong also conducted a few sessions moderated by Prof. Harish Chaudhry. Mr. Dilip Kumar, Principal, Star Public School, Lumshnong, Meghalaya attended 11th Leadership Conclave which focused on identifying the skills that the children in school today will need to effectively deal the world.

A Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India is engaged in promoting fuel conservation and energy efficiency in various sectors of the economy. To raise awareness among young bright minds about the conservation of Petroleum products in industrial, transport, agriculture and domestic sector, etc., three competitions were being conducted by PCRA for the school students. „Saksham‟ Online National Competition 2021-2022 was categorized under Essay, Painting & Quiz competition. The topic was “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav through Green and Clean Energy”. More than 100 students from Star Public School ranging from classes from VI to X participated and qualified for the School Level Competition. School Level Winners List from Star Public School is listed below. Md Julfikar Ahmed Chowdhury (PGT Computer Science) coordinated the participation of students.

Smartcircuits Innovation celebrated International Asteroid Day on 30th June, 2022. Asteroid Day is the United Nations-sanctioned day of public awareness of the risks of asteroid impacts. Its mission is to educate the public about the risks and opportunities of asteroids year-round. Smartcircuits Innovation organized Asteroid Day Quiz 2022 from 24th June 2022 to 30th June 2022 with an objective to aware students more of Asteroids. The competition was for the students from class I to XII. As many as 200 students from Star Public School participated in the quiz and received the participation certificates. The quiz was coordinated by Mr. Kamal Nayan, PGT Physics.
