MID-WEST AMPUTEE SUPPORT GROUP

Keith Entwistle (Standing) Keith is a bilateral below knee amputee. Originally from New Zealand Keith now resides near Bathurst. Keith has been a proactive campaigner for peer support and mentoring for new amputees. The Amputee Association has recently published Keith’s work for distribution to surgeons and hospitals.

Albert (skip) stringer Albert (Skip) is a below knee amputee from Orange. Skip enjoys a good game of bowls. Skip is well traveled visiting his home town of Coventry in England several times. Pictured above with Keith, Skip is recovering from illness and unable to wear his prosthesis. Skip is an inspiration to many.

Russell Hodge An above knee amputee, Russell lives in Dubbo with his wife and 4 children. Motorcycles have always been a passion. Russell still rides even after losing his leg in a motorcycle accident. Russell also enjoys bush walking and has a passion for helping others reach their potential

The Mid-West Amputee Support Group is part of a larger amputee support network. The Amputee Association of NSW Inc. was formed in 1989 to offer a stronger voice on behalf of all amputees living in NSW. The Mid-West Branch, established in 1996, is a coordinated effort by amputees and their families to support encourage and champion the needs of fellow and new amputees within the Mid-West NSW region.

Ian Sutherland Win Beer Win Beer is secretary of the Mid West Branch of the Amputee Association and an above knee Amputee. Win drives long distances, participates in horse dressage activities, attends sewing groups and has always been an active swimmer. Win enjoys gardening, including growing veggies, ornamentals, natives and fernery.

Anne, An above knee amputee from Narromine continues her work as a nursing sister. She frequently cares for her grand children, and drives herself long distances.

Ian Sutherland Ian of Darby Falls is a below knee amputee. Formerly employed as a Maintenance Engineer, Ian now enjoys retirement. Proving that amputation need not stop us from pursuing our interests, Ian achieved Brown Belt level in marital arts. These days Ian prefers the less energetic but equally disciplined practice of Tia Chi.

Les Knight Les is a below knee amputee, is 64 years young and works hard as a rural property manager running a mixed farming business between Forbes and Condobolin. Les is able to carry out most farm duties without assistance.

Rodney Langfield

Rodney, a below knee amputee from Cowra works hard as a farmer, drives tractors, shears sheep, plays golf, goes rock climbing and performs numerous other activities and tasks.
