Following an external visual inspection, if the extinguisher is found to require hydraulic test, extended service or refill it must be withdrawn from service and returned to an approved service centre for the corrective action. The cylinder will display indelible manufacture and renovation dates. Please refer to the current BS & EN standards to ensure that the unit is within the specified time period, then proceed with the service as follows: 1. Visually inspect the extinguisher body for damage. 2. Check and ensure that all operating and other instructions are legible and correct. 3. Remove the discharge horn assembly from the extinguisher. 4. Remove the safety pin and check the valve for correct operation of the handle levers, fit and suitability of the pin and condition of the hanging bracket casting. 5. The extinguisher must then be weighed using suitably calibrated scales. The weight then needs to be checked against both the manufacturer's stamped weight and the previous recorded weight. No more than a loss of 10% of the content weight is permitted.

The swivel horn will remain in the operational position without support, but will revolve with ease.
