Site Team Updates - Video Portal Strategy
This document outlines….
The success of the CBC filming
Concept of the Video Portal Review of our Delivery Meeting (13th October 2015)
The success of the CBC
By the end… Everyone had engaged with the 5 Pillars, learning from one another.
Looking back at the Construction Board Conference Film, we have established that the filming process was a success in its own right.
The group of individuals had become teams, united as Willmott Dixon Midlands
The experience that the participants went through was the most beneficial part of the process. The 5 groups of Willmott Dixon people began the process as a set of individuals, all from different job roles across the business.
The process allowed them to voice their opinions and discuss the 5 Pillars, working as a team throughout.
Everyone had the chance to personally contribute and interact with one another
During the meeting we discussed…
Review of our Delivery Meeting (13th October 2015)
On the 13th October, James, Michael and Ben visited Peter and Nick at Coleshill. • • •

The success of the CBC film The success of the filming process How we can adopt this successful approach in the future Finding ways to engage people with Building on Better
We then identified that…

It is important to engage with people, giving them the opportunity to learn themselves through positive experiences The best group to start with are the site teams, engaging the people actually delivering the projects Any communication must start simply, laying the foundations for future expansion
We further developed the solution, based on achieving the following…
Allow Peter and Nick to easily update John Waterman, with a few clicks allowing for a review of every site in the region
Give site teams a voice, allowing them to share their passion for their site
Create a resource for Peter and Nick to keep up to date with everything happening across the region
We further developed the solution, based on the following requirements… Engage people with Building on Better and the Five Pillars
Allow everyone to have the same experience that the Five Pillar teams had during the CBC filming
Give people across the region an appreciation of the bigger picture, identifying with Willmott Dixon Midlands
We have previously discussed the potential for media based site updates. Based on this previous discussion and these achievements, we wanted to find a way to allow sites to visually document their progress. Sites have access to Samsung Galaxy Tablets, and could easily produce small video diary entries. These ideas developed into the concept for the Site Team Video Portal, which the following pages explain in more detail.
C Video Portal
This is the video portal
1
2
Site teams will create content using the site’s Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
4
They will upload their video content to the footage section of the portal
3
Colonel Duck will retrieve the site’s video and edit it to a consistently high quality.
Colonel Duck will receive an email alert
5
Colonel Duck uploads the finished video to the viewing section of the portal
6
The finished content will then be available to view on the portal
7
Site teams throughout the region can engage with the content.
8
There will be the opportunity to leave feedback, contact other sites and learn from one another.
Communication and Roll Out It is crucial that the Video Portal process and its benefits are communicated throughout the region.
C Video Portal
Site teams need to understand the value of producing and engaging with the content in order to incentivise them to participate.
Site Visits & Engagement
Support & Guides
As part of our initial site visits, we will work with site teams to make trial videos and get their feedback on the process.
We will also offer help and support to everyone involved. This will take the form of an email help desk to handle any queries.
Once we have launched the portal, we will revisit the sites and talk them through its functionality. This will: a) continually involve them in the process and motivate them to participate b) give them multiple positive experiences of the Video Portal c) allow us to evolve and refine the Video Portal to be as useful as possible for them
Additionally, we will offer a telephone callback system for anyone still needing support. Tutorial PDF guides will be hosted online, a Video ‘How To’ guide will be available to view, and printed guides and posters will be distributed to the sites.
