Newcomers President Message We hope that your holiday wishes and New Year celebrations were enjoyable. It’s hard to believe that January has come and gone with Valentine’s day just around the corner. Our lunch last month was a huge success thanks to Clarice Patton and all of her wonderful Happy Birthday cakes. I asked Clarice if June, my birthday month, could have a lemon cake. Well, June’s table filled up very fast so I tried October (second lemon cake) and it filled up as quickly. Thankfully the month of February, the last lemon cake had some empty seats. Lemon cake with fresh sliced lemons is a great combination. Many of our members were able to take an extra piece of cake home with them. Next month we will be having our 2nd Annual Fashion Show during lunch in the ballroom at Embassy Suites. Fashions will be provided by Madonna Inn, Madelyn’s in Pismo Beach, Ann’s in SLO and Susan’s in AG. The models will be men and women from our club. Mark your calendars for Monday, February 17th and get your checks in early. This event is sure to fill up quickly. As always there is an open invitation to all Newcomers, Alumni and Act II members to attend this wonderful event. Wishing all of you a Happy Valentine’s Day.

Our next luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at Marisol at the Cliffs Resort. We’ll dine on Atlantic salmon and whipped potatoes and enjoy Clarice Patton’s delicious Valentine’s cakes for dessert. Our first enquiry is from Mindy Antongiovanni. She is looking for someone who can build a wooden backyard fence for her. Please email Mindy at [email protected] if you have any suggestions. If you have a wish to network with other Newcomers please send your question to Barb Cutshaw at [email protected] and your request will be printed in the Breeze and members will contact you directly with advice or suggestions. IN MEMORIUM
Act II Board Member Jan Pacofsky passed away in early January after a courageous battle with cancer. Jan (pictured--5th from the right) was this year’s Reservation and Reception Co-chair. She had served on several boards in Newcomers’ and Act II and was active in many groups including canasta and Mah Jongg. She was a cheerful and sweet person and she had wonderful friends in these and other groups. Jan will be deeply missed by all who knew her and served with her in the past.
Alumni Activities Following our January luncheon, several members remarked that they had more fun just visiting with each other, and working on the pictogram game Mary Jo Aspinall brought, than watching a program AND the price was right! That will give us something to think about when planning for next year. Following Dee Gore's sunshine report, we all wished for everyone to be healthy and able to join us again for the February luncheon. The post-it prize was given to Dee to forward to our photographer, Tom Woodworth. The typical New Year's wish for a happy and healthy new year seemed most appropriate. Take care out there everyone! Next month, at Gina's, we will be serenaded by our very talented member, Toni Destro, on the harp. I know she will have lovely selections for Valentines Day, so don't miss this treat. Ellen Bavaro will need to know your menu selection of either chicken caesar salad or butternut squash ravioli. Make a resolution to join your fellow Alumni and visit with someone new to you this next month.
