To my future career

By: Sana

Whatever the job I get, I want future me to understand what I’m going to do. Though it might not be a final decision, it is still important. In this flipbook, I am going to be talking about becoming a high school teacher.

High school teachers

The main focus of high school teachers is to teach teenagers as students. During the school day, they teach classes about the main subject that they have a teaching degree in. This can be more than one. When they aren’t teaching, they grade assignments, attend meetings, and plan future lessons.

Job outlook of the career

According to https://www.bls.gov/ooh/education-tra ining-and-library/high-school-teachers. htm#tab-6, “Employment of high school teachers is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026..” this means that more people will choose to become a high school teacher. There is a chance for it to decrease by state and local government budget deficits. Thankfully, there are many schools that if one needs to, they can switch. There are also more jobs, like school counselors or/and librarians.

Pros VS. Cons

PROS

CONS

- schedule is - Stressful consistent - Sometimes have to - Watching students deal with grow & develop new unmotivated or skills disrespectful students

Educational or work related requirements

Something that is for sure needed to teach is a bachelor’s degree. Student teaching and being assistant teachers help with experience. There are also tests to pass like background tests and a general teaching certification test. You must study a certain subject like science or history. Though these things are all important, qualities in a person are also important. Things like patience, communication skills, and resourcefulness.

College

There are many colleges available for becoming a teacher. The one I chose to focus on is Loyola University Chicago, located at 1032 W. Sheridan Rd., Chicago, IL 60660.The program is BSEd in Secondary Education.

College, part 2

The tuition for under 12 hours, per credit hour is $788. Regular would be $21,360. Financial aid is available.

Why I chose it

I chose being a high school teacher because even though I don’t know exactly what I want to be, I don’t think I would mind being a teacher. It doesn’t seem boring and you get new students every year, which I think is cool. I think it will help me in life because it can help me to be more patient with kids and people in general.
